I know there is going to be a matchmaking system, so I can only assume there will also be a ranking system that matchmaking uses.

Will it be split between a team ranking system and an individual ranking system? or just 1 blanket ranking system, and what criteria will it be based on?

Just to be clear, you are talking about the ranking system that each house will have?
From what we've been told, the House rank is based entirely on missions completed, drops won/lost contracts fulfilled, etc

Meaning it does not correlate exactly or even closely with skill.
If you are very active, you could have a very high House rank. You get house rep from almost every action you take while a part of a specific house.

Now while its true that someone skilled AND active will be able to climb the house ranks quicker, its not required to be both.

If previous games are any indication, winning will get you lets say 3 house reputation points, while losing that same battle will get you 1 house reputation point.

Contracts could be different, they may award 10 times the reputation but not award you anything if you fail.

It'll be up to the player to find out which style would most benefit them, if this speculation is accurate, a lone wolf who chose house kurita would want to simply drop in 12 vs 12 matches as much as he can and avoid any contracts.

There has been a post saying that some of the highest rank people in each house would have as of yet unspecified authority or "say" in certain matters. If I recall correctly the word they used was "say", which would lead me to beleive the 10? highest ranked people in Kurita would be able to vote on which planets to focus their attacks on/which planet would offer the most contracts to defend/attack.

The level up system is simple.

you blow up mech

you get monnies

you use monnies to buy better mech

you blow up mechs with better mech

you get more monnies.

Im talking about rank system, that a matchmaking system uses to determine what players are match up with other players in a random game with random players.

If there isnt such a system in place, then how will the better players be challenged, if they are not matched up with other better players, or how will poor noobs, have a chance to get anywhere if they are always randomly being matched againt ace pilots. My only conclusion is there must be an individual ranking system, that we either havent heard of its existence yet, or it doesnt exist, and they have no matchmaking system at all.

you PICK your matches (matchmaking is not the only way to join a game you know. Think Server Browser)

Its not been determined, but house rank is unlikely to be used as the standard for the reasons I've already mentioned.

They will need to use different methods as the standard, possibly something like how many kills a pilot usually gets per game, how much damage they usually deal per game, how often they provide intel for their lance, how often they survive matches, their winning percentage, etc.
