I voted for SH and Battlemaster. I don't care about the other two, I'm thankful to PGI for the latest patch that destroys the movement so I'm even more glad to haven't been interested in the phoenix pack, since I can't pick up the mechs I'd like to have.. Can't really make any use of the Locust and if the Thunderbolt is so big by the artwork, in game it will be wider than an Awesome so.. no thanks :)

You can always just sell the normal variants of the other two that you get. They you will have 4 mech bays and some c-bills.

Not when I think I've paid for those standard variants real money, as much as discounted they can be then it's worthier to keep everything unless the normal variants suck blatantly. Whatever, I'd like mid-tiers allowing to pick up the mechs like

30$ pick up 1 mech (to be chosen from locust, SH and thunderbolt -nope no battlemaster)
50$ pick up 2 mechs freely with some pt (early buy only), 1 faction medallion
70% pick up 3 mechs freely, some pt, 2 faction medallions

I'd go with the third pack, otherwise I'll gladly wait for another black friday to get MCs, since none come with the Phoenix.

Alex explained that. They can't "do it right" because they don't own the artwork. They could NOT mirror the original artwork too closely because it creates legal issues and would be grossly irresponsible. They have rights to the concept of the mechs, the loadouts etc, but not the original imagery.

I'm aware of that and it's disappointing, no doubt. Still, I'm sure they could have come a little bit closer to the original without infringing. Then again, I'm not a graphic artist. :D

I'm most excited for the Shadow Hawk for a few reasons. Mediums are my favorite class, and I love jump-capable 'Mechs, so that's a good start. But more than that the SHD-2H is just, well, different. It looks like it'll be plenty effective (especially with pending weapon rebalancing), but the hardpoints, jets, and engine size all come together to make it something that just won't play like anything else we have.

Second would have to be the Thunderbolt, but if the Locust turns out to be tiny enough or have an interesting quirk, I can see putting in some solid time on it. The Battlemaster will certainly be a lot of fun, but since I hate alpha-boating, it'll take some doing to find a build that I really enjoy. Whereas the Shadow Hawk just screams "Hey! Betcha can't do this on any other chassis! :D"

I've put together a few possible builds for the Shadowhawk:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ff8bbd9e6300044
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...1b7a2d27629040a
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0473d0d156ec078
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7c00417927626c1
Last one is about equal to this Ctf-3D build, so probably only worthwhile if you're trying to conserve tonnage.

Highlights just how much weight you need to spend to get a ballistic worth using, unfortunately.

Prediction: Shadow Hawk will live or die based on the power of SRMs.

For me I would go with the Battlemaster, then the Thunderbolt. But then I am always a big mech kind of person, the kind who would smile when I see a lot of big mechs dropped with my team.

Locust. I look forward to annoying everyone with machine guns and a flamer. I just hope it's small enough to survive a stiff breeze or accidental sneeze.

Shadow Hawk, because I know exactly what I want to try with it.

I don't use Lights and Assaults much, so they don't interest me too much. I play Heavies the most, and I do like the Thunderbolt, but I am more undecided on how I want to play that mech. I have a clear definition in my mind when it comes to the Shadow Hawk (At least for now).

That's the problem, there's no set point where it becomes infringing. Its all up to a judge so they must err on the side of caution. If sued, it doesn't matter if pgi wins or loses the lawsuit it would cost them a LOT of money.

Hence why it takes note design cues from the miniatures and whatnot rather than the original artwork.
