So Paul has said they have added some "weapons subsystems" to help facilitate aggressive weapons balancing.
Do we have any (completely baseless) idea what he's referring to? Target computer load? A way a linking similar weapons types for hear penalties?

Weapon Subsystems?

I figure it just means weapon changes, like heat, speed, cooldown, etc.

If it were that simple, he should say it simply. He doesn't do that. He spouts things like "Don't worry, I am aware of stuff!"

They are adding a target-lock mini-game to all weapons fire. Players will need to bash their faces against the keyboard in a specific pattern to achieve target lock.
"Don't worry, internal testing shows 3rd Person View does not offer a significant advantage." :rolls eyes:

Perhaps going the route MWTactics is with differentiated weapons? Probably not.
Maybe it's a subsystem weapon! Mech taser!
Probably a typo or misinformation.

The subsystems he is referring to are underlying mechanics on how weapons work.
These will be completely invisible to you as the gamer, and allows weapons to be tracked and tweaked faster and more efficiently.

he probably means the boating penalty system?
by subsystem i imagine he means codes for new behavior/mechanics? that are specific to a particular weapon
for example, the sSRM and LRM currently share the same code for lockon. maybe hes planning to add another subsystem that allows them to code sSRMs to have a distinct lockon from LRMs.
just speculation though
and as usual paul's communication skills are extremely poor and he explains things in the most confusing obscure way possible.
