[Robot Legs]

Hi. I'm just curious from the stand point of competitive players, what weapons are considered top notch. Also what is considered currently weak, and not even worth trying.

Top notch:
(ER)PPC
Gauss

Terrible:
LBX 10
Flamer
Large Pulse (mainly because strictly inferior to PPC and ERPPC)

Needs work:
Medium Pulse
Small Pulse
SRMs
MGs

Pretty good:
SSRMs(top-notch vs light and medium, spitwads vs heavy and assaults)
AC/20 (some consider it top-notch)
Medium Laser
Large Laser

Middle "meh" ground:
AC/5
AC/2
AC/10
LRMs
Small Laser (mostly replaced by medium)
UAC/5 (good until it jams)
ER Large Laser (Hot, but quite good range, easier to hit with at extreme ranges than projectiles)

Yep, this looks like what I was expecting to see, but it's nice to see it laid out. TY!

SSRMs are slated for a serious nerfing, and SRMs for some sort of buff.

We'll see how things work out...

In the meantime, Mlas are great for brawling if you have a lot of them, but you will of course be seriously outranged by PPC/gauss users....

Personally, I think LRMs are in the "Pretty good" territory. ECM, AMS and terrain can all nerf them, but when you do get a solid lock, and the swarm of LRMS blot out the sun....... they can still kill stuff very dead, very fast. (and with a good spotter, you can bedevil an entire team, and direct the battlelines.)

If they have a true "sownside" is it's that they are reliant on team work to reach their full potential. But "competitive" players should be playing in 8 man teams anyhow, instead of PUG farming.

That said, they are a definite and decisive step down from teh "Top Tier", as is the AC/20, which has it's warts, but can still smack some fear into people a good 800 meters out.... IF you can account for that slow honking projectile speed (I prefer to wait til sub 500, but have surprised more than one dill weed in a PPC mech when I clobbered (and sometimes killed) them past 750 meters with my Cheez-i-Nater Jager (funny how many people either totally dismiss the Glass Cannon as worthless, or crap their pants calling it OP< seems like there are very few people who understands it's neither..... just highly specialized... its a win or die build)

is it still a "serious" nerfing if they get the same damage buff the SRMs get?
