I always loved Tourmaline Desert because you could climb those spires. Yes, a light should be able to go way up faster than an assault, but without climbing them, the map is now just boring where formerly it was unique and awesome.

I'm not sure which specific spires you're talking about but I still see lots of mechs up in there so it's still doable.

They probably have jump jets or spent forever map monkeying up there.

Seriously, movement felt so good in this game before. Some slowdown would have been awesome. Why'd they have to add this dead stop stuff?

I walked up there with a Centurion, no monkeying at all.

i can't believe i dumped 80 bucks into the overlord package only to get fked by this patch. All mech move like one legged elephants trying to escape a tar pit.

***** pathetic

Personally I've only been playing with Fang and Flame since the patch but today after dying I followed a team mate in a Cicada. He climbed the hills at Canyon Network in an instant. Seems that lights aren't hindered by this at all if you only know what you're doing. Can't say that moving around in my Dragons is hard either. After 13 hours of play, still no full stops to pebbles of steel and climbing hills is doable as well.

This was a win for everyone and games are already showing a huge tactical improvement. If you think a few moves in advance you can really capitalise on the terrain. Know the battlefield, pick your targets and have lines of retreat. It's finally starting to feel like Battletech again.

Agreed. Being allowed to move anywhere in a non-jj mech made the game trivial. Not being able to walk up very steep inclines doesn't mean the game is dumbed down, it means the game actually gives the option of ambush (as soon as seismic is nerfed anyway) and adds other tactical flavors to the game you'd hardly see before. Mechwarrior mechs are mobile, but they're not Eastern Anime Mechs and still have limits to their mobility. Ignoring that is ignoring that this is supposed to be a Battletech related game.
