As a former table top battle tech player and someone who read nearly all the fluff books I am kinda surprised at the mechs you have chosen to implement so far. Don´t get me wrong those are all very viable choices but!

Where are the most iconic mechs at least as far as the fluff is concerned????

Rifleman!!!
Read about Justin Xiang Allard and his adversary Gray Noton and his Rifleman Legend Killer, or Davis McCall of the Gray Death Legion!

Archer !!!
Morgan Kells epic duel with Yorinaga Kurita!!
Also the mech of choice of Jaime Wolf of the Wolfs Dragoons

Warhammer !!!: (Davion Warhammer my all time favorite 3025 table top mech)
Mech of the afore mentioned Yorinaga Kurita, Mech of choice of no one less than Natasha Kerensky the Black Widow!

Marauder !!!
Mech of choice of Grayson Carlyle of the Grey Death Legion

Crusader !!
Mech of choice of Galen Cox aide de camp of Victor Steiner Davion

Other notable mech chassis:

Griffin!

Wolverine!

Phoenix Hawk!

Vindicator!

Valkyrie!

Hornet !

Wasp !

Panther!

Cyclops!

Charger    !

Banshee  ! (Steiner Banshee is a beast!)

Are these mechs planned? Especially the Warhammer I´d love to see that one in game!
I know there are a lot of other mechs also out there but those mentioned are A MUST for everyone who read the books!

Good move to finally get some other iconic mechs in game!!
Locust, Shadow Hawk, Thunderbolt, Battlemaster all of them have some nice fluff backround!

Now hurry with the next one and make it:
Panther, Phoenix Hawk, Warhammer, Banshee
I might have no choice then to spend 80 bucks on that.

Oh dear I completely forgot about the whole robotech/macross/anime rip off disaster. I kinda was hoping subconsciously that they had bought the rights for those. But I guess they haven´t.

Meh this is really unfortunate  .

Edit just checked.

Well at least the Warhammer IIC and the Marauder IIC can be implemented thats at least something.

IIC Mechs won't be out till at least 3055, they are Clan garrison Mechs, not front-liners.

Holy crap, I want the Cyclops. I totally forgot about that beast...

And from the direction MWO's art team is going, the Cyclops would look sexy as hell if they added it.

Problem with the Warhammer, Marauder, Crusader, Archer, Rifleman, Phoenix Hawk and stuff is a little nuisance called Harmony Gold, and their pissant sue happy lawyers.

To change the mechs enough to get away from them would probably leave the totally unrecognizable.....but It's worth a try!

I got so tired of the Unseen nonsense, and FASA/ FanPro and CGLs habit of hiring artists from Elementary School that I mighta sorta made my own TRO.

The unseen come from three different anime. These are the mechs excluding clan or future timeline mechs.

The first is Crusher Joe: Locust

The second is Dougram: Shadow Hawk, Griffin, Wolverine, Scorpion, Thunderbolt, Goliath, and Battlemaster.

The third is Macross: Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie, Phoenix Hawk, Crusader, Ostroc, Ostsol, Ostscout,, Archer, Warhammer, Rilfleman, Longbow, and Marauder.

If you notice that not a single mech used in Project Phoenix is from Macross. They are known for being extremely Litigious, so we will most likely never see a Maruader, Warhammer, Archer, Rifleman, or Valkyrie.

It sucks. I know.

PGI's legal people are at work getting the rights to other "unseen" mechs, they had to fight hard just to get these 4 there putting out now. All they have said is TIME (listen to NGNG and you can be smart too).

It would be awesome if they manage to seal a deal to obtain the rights.
On the other hand its mainly about the design/looks, right? Not the name associated with the design as well?
So PGI could for example go ahead and make a new Warhammer model which looks different enough to the old one and put it in game.

I could eventually live with that, tbh.

On one hand I'd love to see the Robotech unseen, on the other I kind-of hope they don't get the rights from Harmony Gold for them.
See that would mean giving Harmony Gold money, and HG needs to go bankrupt and die so Robotech fans and Battletech fans both can be free of them.

It's unfortunate the costs of an actual lawsuit are so prohibitive, or someone could finally clear up HG's BS allegations they are the sole owners of international distribution rights for all Macross properties.

I find it unlikely all the Unseen belonging to the Macross group will ever make it on MWO. The Macross Unseen was Reseen on the Mechwarrior Dark Age sets, but I guess Wizkids and its parent company were much bigger companies and had a lot more resources. At best, PGI could work using the Project Phoenix designs applied on the Macross Unseen used on the MWDA sets, and it would be such a moral boost to the game. But again, PGI is a small company with limited resources, and if i were in their place, I would tidy up with the last of the content Inner Sphere mechs then work on the mechs for the incoming Clan invasion. In fact, if I were PGI, I would work on the Griffin, Wolverine, for the Unseen, then Zeus and Banshee for the regular mechs then focus on the Clan mechs.

For the effort of bringing in the Rifleman or the Warhammer, what would they contribute to the game play? The Rifleman does what the Jagermech already does....with a deficit of 5 tons. Do you really want a 60 ton Jagermech?

The Warhammer seems like a repetition to the Cataphract.

The Macross Unseen lights, seems like a repetition in purpose and ability to the Commando and Spider. The other unseen seems to be a disproportionate number of heavy mechs, most of whom won't stand up to the likes of a Clan mech like the Mad Cat.

Sigh, you don´t know classic Battletech / Battledroids or the fluff thats surrounds it do you?
Warhammer introduced 2515, Cataphract is much much younger.

Same goes for the Rifleman and Jaegermech and if you had bothered to read why I suggested those mechs I listed you would have realized that I said for fluffs sake! For the people who actually read the books. I WAS TALKING ABOUT ICONIC MECHS!

Alright then following your logic lets just make 4 mechs in each division, light, medium and heavy and 5 for the assault classes.
1 for each 5 ton tonnage increment. So no Victor and Awesome no Stalker and Battlemaster, no Thunderbolt and Catapult only one of each pair. Since you can make up variants for the different slot layouts and easily modify them there would be no point in adding different chassis of the same weight class either, right? FALSE!

It adds flair to have different mech chassis, the stupid idea of easy to modify chassis and a wide range of variants which allows for stupid builds like those multi PPC Stalkers makes it look like that there would be no point.

If the Project Phoenix mechs sell extremely well then the chances of them chasing after the remaining 12 are much higher. You have to give them incentive to chase after the remaining 12.

and that Harmony Gold's board of directors is rumored to be made up of Lawyers......

I'D RATHER THEY POST UPDATES AND INFO here THAN blatantly favor one server as their pet, or use twitter or facebook to announce things..... since believe it or not, many of us still find twitter and facebook largely useless.

OH... and because last I checked... THESE were the official MWO forums, not NGNG........

Very cool looking mech but NOT a Marauder which is the problem with most redesigns. That being said, it is cool enough looking I might not be too disappointed if this showed up labled as a Marauder, especially since we aren't going to get the real thing.

Now this one actually looks like an Archer or at least as close to a Archer as the vast majority of redesigns that are already in the game.
