As some of you may know, In Battletech fiction (Novels), there have been a few isolated encounters with Intelligent Aliens. Although none of it has been expanded on, how would you like to hypothetically incorporate this with the Mechwarrior franchise? Or should it not be incorporated at all?

(If this is incorrect, please notify me so this can be removed, as I could be confusing this with fan fiction)

Edit: Only twice has sentient life made an appearance. One of the novels in question (Far Country) is considered apocryphal.

I had completely forgotten about the Swamp people, however they were less rejected than birds with spears...

Gah! But then Humanity would pull together to face a common foe! No more petty squabbles amongst eachother!?! Isn't that the core driving force in all things battletech? This would be the death of Battletech as we know it!!!

... I kid. I kid.

[shrugs] I'd be interested to hear a bit more on this.

While there is ONE book with the mention of an alien species in it, the rest of the books have been largely void of any aliens of any kind. This was likely intentional, so as to keep the same "feel" of the universe intact. The closest thing to "Aliens" in the books now are just the Clans.

BattleTech is all about human to human interactions and conflicts. Intelligent aliens are inevitable, since the Inner Sphere takes up only a fraction of the Milky Way and there's lots of unexplored galaxy out there, but I'd prefer alien contact to be held off as long as possible (in other words, indefinitely).

The Inner Sphere first thought that Elementals were aliens, since they could take a laser hit and laugh it off, essentially.

I remember when they were talking about the clans (prior to their launch in real life). So many people thought it was going to be aliens. Then SURPRISE CLAN INVASION. :)

There was one isolated incident. It occurred in one novel on a planet that is rather impossible to access.

There is a general understanding that aliens will never be introduced again. Never. In fact the novel in question (Far Country) is considered apocryphal

Not true. There were aliens in The Sword and the Dagger, and they almost kill Ardan Sortek. Furthermore, the novel states that there are several other discovered alien species, but that humanity just, generally, has nothing to do with them.

Sentient aliens are generally not part of the BT franchise. It's one of the ways that this franchise is different than most sci-fi settings. Far Country is an exception, but it's pretty hated by many of the hardcore fans. I can't see any way that PGI would introduce aliens. Most of their core audience would hate it and there's no real reason to add them. I can't think of any conceivable way that they could be effectively introduced into MWO. Even in Far Country we're not talking advanced aliens with power armor that could fight a mech, these were stone age aliens.

Really? Did not know this. Probably because TSD is one of the few novels I haven't read.

*Goes off to do some research*

EDIT: Ah totally forgot about the swamp people.

Would be cool if they added Hunter's Paradise.
