It's probably a shot from the upcoming lava/volcano map. Considering the map location I'd say lightning isn't out of the question.

We drive 2 to 3 story tall walking hunks of metal. Do you REALLY want lightning effects? It would be like a PPC based map wide artillery strike every few seconds. No thank!

But what will we do without the delicious irony of watching a 6PPC stalker take a serendipitous bolt of lightning to the dome?

Kidding aside, someday it would be dope to have maps with a little more dynamic weather (like pumping the dial a little higher on the current stuff) and some lighting that changes over the course of the map. Mechs at Dawn - Atlai march at Sunset. You guys know you want it.
