LRM5 and LRM10 in left arm. yes it will shoot like 2 or 3 groups out instead of one, but it works exceedingly well for suppression fire, and if they have no AMS, well it doesnt matter if they are in one blob or not.
2 ERPPC in torsos
Laser of choice in other arm. Depends a lot on engine choices. If you are the type to hang way back and snipe and LURM, well you wont need anything big or fast. If you want to keep pace with a team, responde to needs, move around, you will need something big.
Slower= put a standard in. Without speed, you will need the durability to not get wiped.
Faster= biggest XL you can manage. If you do over 75kph, you will survive more. I had a 325XL in mine, i think it did like 85 after tweak. It was noticable in survivability due to misses. But, you will also need to keep moving, even if you are in the background with LRM fire.
Play it mobile, you are not an LRM boat. Yo are not a PPC stalker/snipemaster. You can rain LRM on them, you can keep the enemy honest if the AMS is ruining your dmg from them, at least they will have to keep to cover, and it makes smaller mechs like mediums nervous. Area control is very useful.
You have decent punch at long range with fairly easy to aim ERPPC. You can use them to brawl if need be, but heat is key. Stopping from overheat will kill you. If a foe is crossing open area, combine PPC fire and LRM(if within 1000M). Otherwise, you can use an either/or approach. Direct fire from range for PPC, indirect fire LRM with spotter help, or to assist a brawler on your team.
laser in the arm is added brawl punch, and also much easier to aim to fend off lights. In my loadout with megaXL engine, i had tonnage to run a LPL. If you go STD, you will prolly be forced into soemething like a ML.
Something to consider, a 320-330 XL costs like almost as much as the whole mech did in C-bills if I recall. You will need ENDO and I would get double heat sinks for sure for the 2 PPC
Thats what I ran anyway. I mean you can stick PPC and Gauss into like almost every phract in some way, but to me, if I am going to own 5 variants of the chassis, I want them to play differently from each other. The 2X has missiles, with enough slots to actually equip something besides a SRM4. So I used them, and I had a really good time with it.
