Not just spewing gall here, all mechs have strong engines in them capable to move them at speeds that all terrain cars nowadays are capable of and the idea that suddenly the engines in the game are barely strong enough to move the mech over level plains is odd to me.
Slowing you down on hard slopes with obstacles alright that I can understand. But being unable to move at all because there is a ledge that is just to high for a foot to be lifted is insane considering not only the engine is strong to bring that 100 tons to a 'walking' speed of 60 kph. Also those 100 tons of sheer firepower/armor/structure is hard enough to crush that ledge altogether.
A rock in the way? Its crushed!
A bus on the road? Stomped aside or trampled underfoot.
Sliding down a slope because there is too much gravel to stay there, yes. Tripping over a ridge or giant boulder because the mechanics are simply not able to go further or higher... you fall down!
Bring back smashing down other mechs. Destructable maps or at least ignoring those points that suddely slow you down to zero.
Heating your engine much harder as it is struggling to get you there yes. But suddenly stopping?
Look at what a Leopard tank is capable off, then look again at the current influences of slopes and all that on mechs.
At the very least the current system in place needs to be tweaked and toned down.
