You're wrong if you thnk that's how it worked in the original game.

PPCs and LRMs both could be fired within their minimum range. You suffered a penalty to your attack roll (1 point penalty for every hex below minimum range, on a 2d6 roll), but you could fire them, and they'd deal full damage if you hit.
Of course, in the table top, the max range of the PPC was also 540, and the max range of the Medium LAser or AC/20 was 270m. You couldn't shoot beyond that.

A minimum range of 3 is a minimum range of 90m. 1 Hex equals about 30m.

I suppose the only good thing about the AC/40 is right now that there isn't an ASsault that can do it.

Which points us to another problem the game has - Assaults are obviously still the most powerful and most important part of any mech team. Role Warfare isn't there yet.

As long as BV isn't used as a matchmaking criteria, role warfare wont exist. Still, even if it is a problem or boating and the alpha strike meta I'd really like to see how things play out if PPCs were set to 180m min range.

Devs just need to start acting as if this is beta like they named it. We aren't going to see balance as long as they keep the testing internal and hardly change anything at all.

Mechs with 2 or more PPCs that overheat twice or more within 30 seconds have a 20% chance that the weapon will be destroyed.

If 120 meters are the "new" short range ( MG changed to couple patches ago ) I would say bumping it up to 120 might be fine.

PPCs should not be a brawling weapon anyways, reason they are is because of the low heat PGI buffed it to. If you want to fix PPC put the heat levels back to TT.
