Give jumpjets a fixed 45 degree forward angle permanently. no matter what initial velocity they have, if you fire those jumpjets on the back of your battlemech they should propell you forwards.
overcomes some of the silly stuck things and adds a bit more skill to poptarting.
Also jumpjetting *into* a solid surface to grind up the side of it probably shouldnt stop you, but it should cause damage to your front sections as you try to sheer off the side of the building/rock.
