I started playing HGNs recently. I wanted to get a 732 to cheese it out just to see how well I could do. Initially I did not intend to get it to mastery, but I did today and I also broke 100 games played so I thought I would post my stats from the HGNs I used as well as the builds played (I changed some but these are mostly what I played the vast majority of matches using).

HGN 732 Build: HGN-732

HGN 733 Build:HGN-733

HGN 733C Build: HGN-733C

And the stats:

Posted Image

As far as efficiencies go, I just finished 8/8 basic on the 733 today. I had enough XP built up on the 732 to get it to Mastery immediately upon completing the 3x basics and played 9 games on it tonight.

I think this pretty clearly illustrates some of the issues with the game currently. The 732 has far more games played but has significantly better W/L, KDR, and average damage. These better stats are not due to playing more games but exploiting the meta. All of these drops were solo PUG drops, I did not group at all so this is what I was able to do solely by myself.

The 732 with PPCs and a GR has the ability to turn the tide in matches. I dominated many games in this build and carried many teams to victory. I had some bad games where I died without being able to do much, but as you can see from the stats the vast majority of the time I was able to do well. I played 14 games in the 732 before I had a loss and I had an 8.1 KDR in those games.

I one-shotted many lights. I tore apart many Atlai. I snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. I exploited the best weapons in the game and I used them to slaughter 185 enemies and only died 41 times, typically after taking at least 2-3 enemies down.

Edit:

I'd also like to add a quote from my wife (a non-gamer) while she was watching me play the 732.

"This doesn't even look like fun, you are just killing everyone on the other team."

Edit Dos: Update 733C build to reflect reality w/ ammo

Your wife is smarter than your typical "pr0", "c0mp3t1v3", "l33t" mwo gamer.

HGN-732 with 3 PPC + Gauss = Easy Mode

Much more easy than the Stalker IMO if you can reasonably poptart and fire.

Changes in movement are also encouraging less variety. Restricted movements result in people minded to do damage before they get close... for getting close means moving, turning, stumbling, full stopping, on messed up movment/terrain issues and BAD collision warping. IMO theres more PPC fire now than before the movement change...

I am pretty awful at pop tarting since they added JJ shake, so there is minimal pop tart abuse here. If I were better at that I can only imagine how much worse this would be.

Aw... I abuse this to no end and it's glorious how most people can't really shoot mechs that are in the air (hangtime is still rather high).

And congrats to your wife for telling us what we already knew. I'm sure she's a keeper. :D

Here's a pic of my current stats of the Highlander:

Right now, all of them are elited (will work to grind them all to master). As you can see... there is only one mode for the 732.

I have been drinking a bit tonight so I did not accurately replicate the builds in smurfy apparently. I am updating with the actual 733C build and I have checked the others for accuracy.

Edit: Love the name, assuming you are a fan of the DoW series as well?

You are easily disarmed running that build. An RS or Misery has a more symmetrical build out. Having everything on one torso is just asking to be disarmed.

I think the results speak for themselves. I regularly shoot out the RT of Atlai to neuter them but it rarely happened to me. I was running an XL engine, if you will note. I rarely died to a side torso being blown out.

You're correct, but most of the time effective poptarting and/or just good torso twisting help here.

The issue with the RS and Misery is that going after the torso that the Gauss is in is far easier to get to than the Highlander's torso...

No, this is what the competitive scene has been saying the whole time. The meta is one-dimensional and broken. We want it fixed as much as everyone else, if not more.

We run it because, frankly, it is more fun to blow people to hell with PPCs than it is to feel powerless while they do the same to you (of course, both being far less fun than proper balance).

When the meta game is not imbalanced you don't even notice it.

"study"? hah...what little weight your "evidence" has for the argument.
But I do admit your post does have a rhetorical effect in the anecdotal sense.
The meta is fine. But of course brawling weapons should be buffed.
