Anyway, I applaud your choice to play what you want to play instead of playing only the things that win the most. I love all my mediums and my CTF-4x with 2xLBX10, 2xMG, 2xMPL, SRM4.
EDIT: Wolves, do you play with a group regularly?

Anyways, you can always kill your Elo Ranking by playing joke builds, then working your way back up...
...or I found a much more productive way of killing your Rank. Play as a Bait Mech. I run my Hunchbacks as bait Mechs to engage half the enemy team at a time, then let my other teammates pick them apart. My kill/death ratio is dropping faster than Paula Deen's sponsors, but my Win/Loss ratio is skyrocketing. This means my Elo Rank (based largely on kills) is dropping as I am winning more matches...

I wish there would be ranked and unranked games.

Recently we got many new players to our unit, myself one of them.
If we team up 4 of these 1 month Players we streamroll the opposition regularly, we divide into two teams attack the enemy from two sides and crush them next to everytime. Our pugs normaly understand this strategy quite fast... all in all its fun...
Now 1 of the "older" Players comes into the Team... someone playing since closed beta, we have a number of them... suddenly everything changes! The enemy now looks like a well working 8 man drop, or rather they are 2 4 man drops that know what they are doing and are mostly equiped with PPC/Gauss and LRM, whereas our pugs dont seem to know where the front part of there mech is... they also have Mech Loadouts like an Atlas RS with 2 LL and one LBX... nothing else in it...
So how is 1 more skilled player supposed to make up for all of that? He simply can't!
This is not a one time observation its that for weeks, as soon as one higher Elo player enters the "noob" team, everithing changes from "normal players in normal mechs" to "1 high Elo player + 7 Noobs" against "two experienced teams with PPC/LRM boats"...

Wouldn't the answer be to apply a means to stop sync-dropping, period? After all it's plagued the game in respects and been abused since closed beta.

But sync dropping means a group of people in a Voice program clicking on the "Launch" button at the same time. How do you stop that? If 12 people drop at the same time, with the same ranking, and they are not in a premade group... then they will be treated like individuals that are perfectly matched for a fight.
The only way I can think of to stop that would be through applying long-term player tracking programs that determine how often who drops with who within X amount of time. every time anyone drops... I guess that could be a suggestion for the Devs... But, as things are now, sync dropping will only be as successful as the closeness of your Elo Ranks, which are unknown and therefore not able to contribute toward successful sync dropping.
Oh, and to this:

You're right, I had misinterpreted the info in this thread when I thought that I had "Beating" an individual meant killing them.
I guess that means my Elo Rank is not ruined after all... but then why are these Upper-Ranked players losing to me all the time? That makes no sense... I shouldn't have a Mammoth W/L ratio in the public queue using Slow Mediums... should I? Am I just that juicy of a target to where team after team are willing to give their lives just to get a piece of Prosp?

I agree ELO is anti Fun.
I have played a total of 3,491 matches up until today.
Out of that I have played 1,247 with my spider.
I consider myself an skilled spider pilot, HOWEVER I have also tried many other mechs and as you can imagine lost a lot of matches as well.
At the end of the day... WHO CARES?!

Oh, I forgot about this, but http://mwomercs.com/...oke-builds-ftw/
Proof that you don't have to trash your Elo Ranking to have a Frankentastic good time with ridiculous builds. I mean, you can drop your Rank to play with newer players, but then why unleash the Joke Builds against those who wouldn't appreciate the joke?

Great and valid points but we're not behind the scenes. Surely the developers' can apply some type of system that doesn't rely on the last point made? or not, seeing as they would more than likely have already implemented such a feature, and it would possibly require doing away with their current system, Elo? Things that make me go, hmmm.
I am simply tired of dropping solo 90% of the time and consistently encountering what I know not to be fellow pugs! Even if they were pugs and let's say by chance they're all somehow using the 3rd party comm (what would the odds be) it doesn't begin to explain facing enemies that are in lance formations, truly focus firing, covering one another as a meat shield when one of them has taken a lot of damage and so on... (something I can't get pugs to do if I am in command and lucky enough that everyone is following my lead/directions - because as soon as we engage the pug, "I Kill You!" mentality takes over, and the strategy goes right out the window for half or more of "my" team).
I drop solo so often because the titanium in my spine doesn't allow me to game for long periods of time and is the only reason I left my Clan, because I felt I was more of a hinderance than an asset. However, more often than not I am facing coordination from the opposition that can only be explained through a sync-dropped clan that know how to prepare proper lance formations, scout properly, draw the enemy out properly, etcetera. These are not the enemy I became accustomed to facing more often than not, until the past month or so when it seems things flipped 360 degrees and I find myself facing strategically sound teams that even if pinched win through changing tactics on the fly. Geebus - I can rarely create a short post.
Thank you for the prompt reply and food for thought.
