I noticed something with HSR (Host State Rewind) on ballistics and how to get it to work....(most of the time)

Notice how when you fire your weapon, you see it hit and the target takes zero damage.

Here is how i've been able to help "correct" this, it's simple: Follow through.

Once you fire your weapon, keep the targeting cursor on target and a moment later you will see it turn Red as damage is finally registered.

I've had ballistic shots nail people and as long as I kept the targeting cursor on target and sometimes (even up to a full second later) I'll see the damage hit.

Now this could be the crux of the problem with HSR, in that it takes a moment for the HSR to check and then apply the results on the server side and when it goes to check it sees you are off target even through client side you've already hit and your targeting cursor is off in another place.

I don't know it's just a theory.

But what works for me is the follow through. Miles and miles of less frustration if I just simply follow through.

Let me know if this is helping out anyone else.

I'll def try it, but a lot of times "follow through" = you ct is gone.

Interesting...

My solution is to ignore lights and spam damage on the nearest slow moving target you can find.

It's not a solution, but it's a method that (as far as I can tell) gets me more registered hits and may well help the dev's debug HSR itself.

Hmm, so in theory you could fire your shot then place cursor on target, scoring a hit.

Either way, will give OP's suggestion a try.

Too many people saying "I'll give it a try" and not enough actual feedback. I want to know if this works! :)

I don't' think HSR works that way. You have to fire your shot ( on target) and keep the cursor there for a moment to get the registered damage.

As I'm pretty sure HSR sends the date -> Mech hit - Server queries-> verify hit - >HSR cursor on target it's a hit. Server - > ok, registering dmg.

Where I am finding a lot of non registered hits is when I fire - hit the target and my cursor is already off in another location so when the HSR verify sweeps in to see I am off in the boonies with the shot and it says "no go" to the server so the server doesn't register.

It's a theory but that is what Appears to be happening.

I mostly only use lasers, but it seemed to be an improvement with the GR.

it seemed to work for me, but when your in a fur-ball it means that you cant torso twist as much to spread the damage out. It feels like HSR is treating all weapons like their missiles, you need to hold target until impact. Weird :D
