I have seen a few questions about the inclusion of large weapons such as the Arrow IV (http://www.sarna.net...ow_IV_Artillery), and the response from the devs is always something to the effect of, "We'll see." I just want to gauge interest, because I would like to the answer to be, "Yes we will include it, we just don't know when."

I thought that at one point they were going to put in the Arrow IV variant of the Catapult?

I voted "sure" because "it is the cry of my heart" was not an appealing phrase to associate myself with.

I guess I'd like to see it but man that's a powerful weapon. Much like clan tech I find the implications to balance mind bottling!

I can already hear the crying. I don't think it is a good idea.

I want Arrow IV to be in this game.

It should be very heavy, (15 tons?) and occupies huge amount of slots (7-8 slots?). Damage wise it is comparable to LRM20 but cannot be destroyed by AMS, and has a range of 2000. Speed is similar to LRMs so it is easy to avoid.

15 tons, yes. 7-8 slots? No, it takes up a whopping 14 slots.

How you'd implement it is basically how ALRMageddon went (90° drop-on-your-head style), only traveling at 1000m/s and with a significantly higher "roof" (read: when it stops going up). I think people would start to really turn up the QQ when indirectly-fired AC/20s start dropping on their heads and the only cover is not being seen, however.

Yes, I totally want it, but we're probably not going to see it for a LONG time.

14 slots is fine. PGI can also just lower the roof. Also. by limiting the ammo, such as 5 missiles per ton.

MW4 had Arrow IV, and people didn't complain about it in MP. ERPPC/Gauss/ERLLasers were still the king.

I'm kinda sick of seeing the same load out every game.

I used to be a Mechwarrior like you, then I took an Arrow IV to the knee actuator.

What? Too old?

If I remember correctly, this is one of those systems that while the Clans had them; they did not use them very much as it went against their warrior idiom. Whereas, the IS had no issues and used them to great effect against the Clans. It was one of the early Clan invasion advantages the IS had.

And remember, they are guided, but the target had to be TAGed. So, to use at 2000 meters, you would have to keep the target tagged all the way in. Not so easy.

Isn't it 15 slots (not 14) for IS version?

Arrows do 20 damage direct and splash of 10 in the surrounding (IIRC). Fun stuff - TAG is going to be a challenge though..

If not careful, it will become Easy Mode. There are already too many missile campers in the game, even while LRMs are currently neutered.

Arrow IV can only be fired if a friendly mech paints the traget by TAG.

Question is; how will splash damage work with the Arrow IV? Splash completely broke SRMs and LRMs, so how is it going to work with an even bigger missile?

It would work how Airstrikes and Artillery work - damage can only be dealt to each 'Mech once per explosion. The only difference being the target 'Mech would take a hell of a lot of damage.
