Check out this reddit link to the Dev's twitch recording and you'll see why there will never be an 8-man team tournament.

LoL they're still running salad builds... they really should be doing in-house 8v8s, these have been painful to watch forever.

Because PGI can't enforce tonnage or weightclass limitations at this point and without them tournaments would end up being 8 PPC Stalker vs 8 PPC Stalker fights. In other words: the game is a joke and PGI doesn't even have the systems in place which are needed to conduct the said tournaments.

They actually may be able to enforce that - set up rules (say, RHoD-style drop limitations), observe telemetry and throw out teams didn't submit to them.

Crude, but could work.

A lot of the problem is that their team is small, and most are concentrated on content. Where-as very few are working on balance, which is why it takes months for them play-test those things. I could be wrong of course with this statement, but it seems that is the case. The community is also not consulted or apart of that direct process before changes are put onto the live server, which is why the Test Server 'Realm' is sorely needed.

We've had weapon systems and equipment out of whack since closed Beta. ECM implementation is also still whack. They need to examine what did and did not work in other Mech titles more closely, they already took certain weapon implementation idea's from MW:LL. There are not only a vast array of idea's on these forums (not merely complaints, but valid suggestions and discussion) and plenty of idea's that just "worked" in past Mech Warrior titles. If something just "worked" then why deviate from it, instead explore what "worked" and expand on it. Its that simple.

The two greatest examples are the MG and the LB 10-X.

The only iteration of Mech Warrior that had a rightfully, useful MG was MW3, some say it was alright in MW2 as well, and to some extent MW4. But, instead the constant stream MG was copied from MW:LL, but the MG was made for a specific purpose in that game, to kill Battle Armor very quickly. If MW:LL had been a Mech vs. Mech only game, those devs would have obviously made the MG do damage to Mechs, but their game is based on around a clear paper-rock-scissor concept since the whole Battle Tech armada of vehicle types are present.

And the other example, the LB 10-X (and the other caliber types) have been extremely useful in three iterations of Mech games I have played: MW3, MW4, and MW:LL. All of these games stuck with the same concept: pellets doing even more damage, and range being a clear advantage where you can snipe with it to take advantage of the bonus damage at range or up close.

Or, even with ECM, it never blocked out an entire class of weaponry in any Mech Warrior game, because that is illogical.

I am only touching the surface though, it is more than just those things I mentioned where there are clear issues that should be addressed.

I'm not a PGI hater, but that's hilarious.

Startin' to get old how some people's children talk about PGI. Seriously you tards need to get some damn perspective - You want someone to cry about start with Blizzard, Ubisoft, etc. al.

PGI is far too new - Give them at least 3 titles (or getting bought out by EA / Activision) before we can all say they suck. :)

Till then - Let this be a lesson to everyone:

To the OP, My belief is because there is no system in place for 8v8 Tourneys or any type of tourney which is just shocking and the thought process behind not including a basic lobby for tourneys or matches set by players boggles the mind. Even in beta world of tanks had such a system in place. Which pretty much kept the player base alive during a year long beta. Players could set up their own tourneys which kept the players playing and providing feedback for the devs

Because there afraid to allow open private matches and leagues. PGI has tried to cut the throats of all past players leagues League owners or anyone that was a past MechWarrior fan why? Because they don't want a Vibrant community or any outside opinions on the game all they want is quick fast join players that might dump in some cash and move on to other games. This is my opinion of what I have seen on the forums and the last 2 1/2 years. To have true competitions and 8v8-12v12 ladders you need private matches and the ability to make and train teams and players, MWO is nothing but one big free for all style warfare split in 2 teams not the true MechWarrior game style gameplay of past MechWarrior IP'S. Hauser - those look f**king brilliant - Sadly with the loss of the General forum I hardly ever come on here nowadays so these events totally bypassed me, how is this not more widely publicised?

I'd definitely be up for this and a good few of my unit would be too I'm sure, we love 1v1s & doubles matches, we just so-oo rarely get do do them.

I think both events are running again next weekend. You'll get your chance.

If anything r/mwo is the new general discussion these days. Makes it easier to catch up on the news on the forums and twitter as well.
