So, last year i posted about what amounted to a proyect by the U.S. navy that mounted an experimental laser on a decomisioned ship.
So yeah, last year humanity had a medium laser. On a ship.

Not only that, but:
At this rate, I say we'll have mechs in 100 years. (We have to perfect small robots before we can build giant ones, and even then the technology to make a decent-sized mech useful in combat will take even longer to develop.)
