Currently, the chainfire system will fire one shot exactly 0.5 second after your last shot... but only with certain weapon platforms. The chainfire system works as intended with ballistics, PPCs and missiles, but it does not function properly with Laser Weapons.

The chainfire interval for AC/5, for example, is 0.5 seconds. Same with PPCs...

...but, the chainfire interval for Medium Lasers and Large Lasers is actually a little longer than 1 second. The chainfire interval for Small Lasers and Medium Pulse Lasers is actually a little longer than 0.75 seconds... etc. Chainfire with Lasers uses the beam duration (plus a tiny fraction of a second) as the chainfire interval.

I am petitioning PGI to normalize all the Chainfire Intervals to 0.5 seconds, regardless of the weapon-type. This request is being made in light of the Heat Scaling System that requires an accurate 0.5-second chainfire interval to function as intended; therefore I request that Laser Chainfire ignore the beam duration and revert to functioning in a normalized fashion relative to all the other weapons in the game.

fixed a mistake - beam duration was not added, it was used

Are we actually talking about holding down the button to fire the weapon in chainfire mode?

I have zero problems chain firing by hitting the fire button multiple times when that weapon group that is in chainfire mode. This is with medium lasers. I'm pretty sure this is working as intended™ in the method I'm using it in.

Yeah, but iof you are allowed to fire 2LL in the middle of your other 2LLs firing, then why can't we just hold the trigger to fire the next LL in sequence without having to wait for the first one to end? The Heat Scale system is based around the "0.5 second interval," and not the "beam duration interval."

Although that's kind of a poor design, why does the manual override to that functionality (keep hitting the fire button for that weapon group) seem like a bad idea? Last I checked it did require a little bit more "skill". Why make this "easier" (not that this shouldn't be fixed/addressed)?

It sounds worse than it should.

The Heat Scaling System was developed with the intention of being utilized in conjunction with the Chainfire mechanic... and I think that the Beam Lasres have no business standing-out from the basic rule of firing 1 weapon every 0.5 seconds.

The idea of requiring multiple clicks to chainfire kind of renders chainfire moot, to begin with. If there is a chainfire, then it should be implemented in such a way that maximizes its compatibility with the Game's other functional assets/mechanics.

This kind of thing is why people like macros. Go look up "AutoHotKey". As code goes, it's fairly simple. The forums have lots of examples you can just copy and paste to get started. Remember to run scripts in Administrator Mode, or they just won't work with MWO.
