Typically premium paints are bright, vibrant, and in some cases glow or shine in certain ways. (For example: Black Onyx despite being a shiny black used to shine a brilliant blue much like real Onyx. Somehow that changed which is disappointing).

Is there anything about this game you don't know?

What other colors have different specular mapping?

Well, I don't know what PGI was smoking when they decided to allow heatsinks to increase our heat threshold (one of two culprits to our major balance issues). Don't know if we'll get pink small laser variants which I figure we might since we're getting purple large laser variants. I don't know how tall the Locust is going to be but I'll be pissed if it's larger than a Jenner.

Don't know of other paints with special specular mapping, but I know of three very interesting things.

If you get the Woodland pattern for the Blackjack, there's a 4th unchangeable color; black. So with camo green, tan, and brown you can use it to recreate the 4 colors and pattern used in actual 1990's US army BDUs. This is not the only mech and pattern that gets an extra 4th layer of paint, so check around.

Any mech with Cobra will have many parts of its body shine like fish or wet snake scales, these are special specular layers. They typically give off Ochre and almost Grue hues.

My Raven 4X is a velociraptor with scars, and the vicious bite of an AC/20.

I did notice that about cobra. Very cool. I just don't use it because I don't like the, er, cobra on the back.
