So I can change the Z axis to turn the torso left and right and can change the Y axis to look up and down, what I want to do is use the X axis to move my mech left and right, as I have done in past battletech games is this possible in this game?

To strafe, you put your torso at a ~90 degree angle vs your legs, and walk back/forward.

I assume you are talking about a Joystick or some other controller. The best place to get help for these is to post in the Hardware and Accessories forum.

Loc Nar is notable for being the Joystick guru. Without knowing which controller you have it is a bit difficult to give you advice.

And if you are using a joystick, I highly recommend you check this topic:

I've been a die hard joystick guy, and swapping from strict joystick to the joystick/mouse combo has really enhanced my experience. I still get that sim feel using the joystick to move, but I don't lose the accuracy that I did by forgoing the mouse.

Thanks a lot for the help and info. Both links helped out, It looks like i'm going to try the joystick/mouse combo as Buckminster suggested.
