We Want Instant Action!

1) I hit play and I wait 30 or so seconds while it is "searching"
2) The game is loaded, and I wait 30 or so seconds for other player's game to load or whatever...
3) I listen to the "online" messages for the 100th time for another 10 seconds
4) If I am assault, I hit zero on numpad and chat with other players, often providing annoying sarcastic comments about robotic "gl hf" messages or something mean like that cause I'm already tired of waiting.
5) If I am on a large map, I wait for almost a minute to get into position.
6) I actually play the game for 5 minutes or so maybe. Woot!
7) When the game actually finishes, I wait for 10 seconds for the game to acknowledge that the last person on my team died or that cap completed so I can leave in peace.
8) Because I am annoyed about the fact that I'll have to wait again, I rant on chat about opposing team saying "gg" in all-chat knwoing that my team played terrible and that it wasn't a good game at all because it presented no challenge for them. good game is when teams are balanced, and for some reason it's hard for people to understand that.
I think that MWO really needs to work on speeding up action and getting us there or prolonging games, but not by making maps obnoxiously big.

I'd love to see something along the lines of Planetside 2 With Mechs, Or even a single player MMO type game with mechs.
But this is not and most likely will not be this game.

Nah. It sounds like he'll rush in and die that much faster, thus increasing the time he spends waiting.
I think this just might not be his game.

Thank you all for wonderful advice, but I don't need ADHD help, I drink a lot of coffee and smoke a lot, but that's not your damn problem! And thank you, I don't rush and I am not stupid to make contact "early" even in a light mech because I always support my team, doing over 700 in a light or 900 damage in an assault mech at time. So to sum it up, I really don't need basic medical or gameplay advice on how to "overcome my problems".
I was hoping to get opinion on the size of the maps and unnecessary and stupid "nominal" animaton, and hopefully from people with IQ greater than 80 that are capable of posting more than one word or sentence.

The topic at hand was your desire for the removal of things that are a core part of MechWarrior.

The map size is part of the whole having to find and scout out your opponents (just like every MechWarrior game) and the stupid "nominal" animation is a tradition to welcome back long time mechwarriors to make us feel at home.
Your title, "WE WANT INSTANT ACTION", is flawed. You want instant action. MechWarrior is now and always has been a game that builds up tension until the brutal, short combat. It is my hope as a long time MechWarrior, that it will continue to be that way. I play MechWarrior Online to play MechWarrior online. My suggestion is to find a game that is more the pace you're looking for, as, evidently, MechWarrior is not it.
Take a look at the Armored Core titles, possibly Hawken. I know for a fact that Armored Core is a much faster pace and quicker to action, but I cannot speak personally to Hawken.
I hope I've met your response length requirement.
May your missiles fly true, your shells hit their marks, and your beams cut down your foes.

Thanks for enlightening me! Now I understand the reason behind the animation, though I'd personally prefer that it was integrated into the time where we wait for other players, rather than for it to be another cause for the delays.
Now for the map sizes... Is there a nostalgic reason behind having tourmaline and alpine maps span almost 10 kilometers across with 90% of the map being empty space where fighting never occurred and no one ever died?

The first point in this list was implied in my previous post, but it comes down to the following:
- building up to big fights
- larger groups (12v12) are coming
- Assaults and other slow mechs are supposed to be rare
- people aren't being very creative in their tactics

I didn't think this had to be explained, but it's positioned where it is to act as a countdown, so that everyone starts at the same time. That way, the poor sap who loaded last isn't expected to move before he gathers his bearings.
As an aside, if you wish to foster discussion in the future, don't present a list that simply seems like someone whining about a trivial inconvenience that doesn't seem to go anywhere. Present your opinion/argument/wishlist and ask a question. If you post a melodramatic list where the word "wait" is emphasized and the time increments are comically short, chances are you're going to receive snarky remarks.

Your title, "WE WANT INSTANT ACTION", is flawed.
You know, Elite's best ships had pyramidal shape with less than 10 polygons, but Star Citizen's ships will have 100,000. Games evolve, load times reduce, and people grow impatient. Certainly a nostalgic thing here and there may be good, but saying that you enjoyed waiting 2 minutes before you can even move your mech every time you dropped is just plain absurd.

Yeah, I'm looking at for a whole minute from the top of the alpine hill knowing that my team or I will just have to wait for them to come...
Suri Curume, on 10 July 2013 - 01:34 PM, said:
Certainly the topic is a bit of an exaggeration, but I never saw a game where someone complained that load times were too short!?!
And you prefer to wait longer before you can do anything meaningful? So you are saying that you prefer commercials to be longer while you watch a TV show? Certainly not all of us have bladder problems and need to hit "launch" and put a brick on numpad 0 while they go, only to return and see that they didn't miss anything.

It helps to have a good computer. If you have a solid state drive and lots of RAM you can basically instantly swap between the game and windows with no lag or detrimental effects.
I think a lot of people do this which is why we get such a lot of drivel on the forums. People posting crap while waiting to get into a drop

I have even been know to TAB out while my mech walks across Alpine

So finally, after so many posts, I get you to post something useful. Thank you sir, now I do understand that the large maps may be more suitable for upcoming 12-man matches. I (personaly) wish they waited to release 12-man matches so I (personally) can the boring gameplay on those maps.

Yeah I saw the heat maps, but not for tourmaline because ithey were s embarrassed to shot that it's 95% dark.
And by looking at the game, I certainly can figure out how much development went into the game user experience. That's why I'm criticizing MWO, because it feels almost a naked Cryengine 3 where hey employed a handful of coders and the rest were level designers.

There's no need for a countdown. When everyone but the poor sap loads, the game starts. He skipped the countdown because he's playing on his Mom's laptop. Since you are so good at suggestions, maybe you can suggest to him to buy a proper gaming rig.

It's funny you point out the graphics, because they have most definitely evolved. Incidentally, it was not something you were complaining about. There's a difference between "enjoying waiting 2 minutes before you can even move your mech" and enjoying:

I'm willing to bet that Star Citizen is going to play very similar to the Wing Commander games.

Load times have nothing to do with your complaints on the map size and "stupid 'nominal' animaton". Of course people want things to load faster... That's a complaint as meaningless as "I wish rush hour traffic didn't suck."
So your complaints boil down to:
- I wish things loaded faster (which as you admit is something that has always been said about every online game ever)
- I wish this didn't play like MechWarrior (large expanses, slow mechs, sometimes brutally short combat)
Reactor: ONLINE
Sensors: ONLINE
Weapons: ONLINE
Current Time: (all 6 digits said in their entirety) GST
Ambient Temperature: (a minimum of 4 digits with an appropriate decimal) Degrees
ALL SYSTEMS: NOMINAL
I'm sorry that I had to reiterate many points. It seems that either I'm not getting through to you whether by fault of my own writing or by your reading comprehension.
Whatever you decide to do, godspeed to you.
EDIT:

The part you glossed over is how to get useful posts faster.
If you want responses of IQ quality 80 or greater, your post should at least start the ball rolling and show an author with an IQ of 80 or greater.

Most certainly would. Though league of legends was originally made in 2009 probably based on an aged engine. By now, the code probably resembles a salad, so it's somewhat understandable.

Finally, a person that actually admits that there's nothing to do most of the time. I got 32G of RAM, and I do that to, trust me. Sometimes I do "go" instead, but first I hit Launch
