Hi guys,

new player here, just started a few days ago with a Spider 5D. Liking it a lot, but I wanted something with a bit more punch so I bought a QKD-4H.

Right now I'm broke, saving up for DHS etc, but this is how I wanna build it:

QKD-4H

Purpose: Fast & mobile melee striker/flanker. I don't care much for range, so I picked (what I thought) would be a good loadout for delivering maximum damage at close range.
I hate being slow, 100kph is roughly my "minimum accepted" speed.
Love JJs too, which is why I went with this over the dragon.

So.. any input appreciated. My main concern right now is that is looks to run rather hot lol. But then again I am used to that.

If you're going to attempt to run an XL in a close-range build, I suggest dropping down to an XL340 (you're still just a hair over 100 kph with Speed Tweak) and then upgrading to Artemis.

The tightened spread on SRMs is really noticeable and makes a big difference. Use your MLas sparingly until you're out of ammo, as the SRMs are your main attraction.

Good advice, thanks - I did notice the SRMs spreading out ridiculously ^^
I could just afford the double heatsink upgrade like 4 matches ago and things are really looking up. With 3MLs and 3 SRM6 it does pack one hell of a punch, getting 300-500 dmg now which I think is good (for a noob).
Now all I need is a few million for that XL engine heh :)

I agree with Blue Cricket I run a 300 XL to 330 XL in mine and it is definately enough speed so you would be better off with a slightly smaller engine and Artemis.

Other than that I think it is fine even it is isn't the way I prefer to run my QDs.

Correction, I didn't see you are only mounting 2 JJs the first time around. Definately not enough for the QD which should run at least 4.

Here is what I would do instead.

I suggest you try this modification to your build. It's more heat efficient, your SRMs are more accurate, your SRMs will all fire in one volley (instead of 2) and they will all have the same refire rate.

Very cool, well armored, quick, and powerful setup, more survivable and with more ammo and an ams. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...cb6d0ea81a7c576
Faster, slightly less ammo, same survivability, retaining ams. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e616087630fe112

I run my 4H like this...

Works great, and you can easily pull another ton free to put towards heat sinks, jump jets, ammo, etc. by shaving a little armor off and downsizing the engine to a 325.
