Hy everybody!
I'm pretty new to the game and i wana ask, is it viable to build a Catapult C4 with SRM's or Steak SRM's and Med lasers? because i want it to be my medium range mech.

Med lasers are pound for pound one of the best weapons in the game. The general opinion of most players is that SRMs need a slight damage boost and they will be set.

Medlasers are good secondary weapon on almost every configuration.
Srm with artemis destroy stuff, without they are still usefull for a brawler. They are viable but necessitate a state of mind that is not teach in the current meta. I wouldn't recomend them on a C4 tho.

As of right now, the difference between SRM with and without Artemis is not very big. I've actually removed Arty from my SRM Stalker in favor of some extra ammo and a bigger laser.
There's an official poll about bumping SRM to 2.0 dmg again (with a majority in favor), so I'd say now might be a good time to get (re-)acquainted with them.

I'm very new also, I pilot a Jenner so its not like I'm unloading swarms of SRMs but I'm running 2 SRM4s right now and I also didn't notice much difference with Artemis, I had good success learning to fire my lasers in harmony with my SRMs on chain fire, or at once if the enemy is straight ahead of me. I did also notice though that artemis seemed to help me more with the SRM6, which seems to have a wider natural spread for some reason, and also seems like it fires the missiles in 2 short chunks of 3 as opposed to all 6 at once sometimes. I can say for my light mech at least its not worth it. But you may want to listen to someone with more experience than 3 days, lol. Medium lasers are decent, they can seem weak if you sweep your target with them as opposed to hitting one spot though. I've been messing around with small pulse lasers and like them better excpept for lack of range. I can't wait to try some medium pulses, they will probably be my favorite. No experience with the mech you asked about, but listen to these folks, they got me up to speed in a matter of a day and a half.

Your SRMs are flying in short bursts due to tube numbers. Certain 'Mechs only have a certain amount of missile tubes on the 'Mech. For example a Raven-3L has, stock, an SRM 6 (6 Tubes) in the right torso and a NARC missile launcher (1 Tube) in the left arm. This means any missile weapon you load into the right torso will only shoot in volleys of 6, while the ones in the left arm will shoot one at a time. An LRM 20 in the right torso, upon being fired, would shoot 6 missiles, then another 6, then another 6, then 2. In the left arm it would shoot 20 missiles one after another.
