As said above. I'm kinda newb, and don't know where I should keep my ammo. So far Ive been keeping it in my legs, but if I need more, where is a good spot? The mech is a Stalker.

Legs.
If you run out of space in legs then head, after that arms.
If you have 2 different types of ammo make sure the ammo in the head is different than the ammo in the arms, so the ammo in the arms gets used as fast as possible.

On a Stalker, use the arms (and the head if you haven't already).

EDIT: Damn you Medic, you ninja'd me!

And just for the sake of completion if it's gauss rifle ammo you can put it anywhere since it doesn't explode

Keep in mind, ammo is consumed in this order:
Head, CT, RT, LT, RA, LA, RL, LL.

So if you have one extra ton, and you know you'll burn through two tons right early in the match, putting a ton into your CT is harmless - you'll use it before there's even a chance of an explosion.

All good advice so far: Unless you're in a Light. Never ever put anything explosive in the legs of a Light Mech unless you have absolutely no other option! Everyone will be aiming to take out your Legs first. You're in a Stalker so you'll be fine with it in the Legs, but just something to keep in mind if you ever give a Light Mech a try.

I keep killing guys by shooting off one leg.

maybe if you run XL engine its not so good idea to keep ammo in the leg.

I'd put the ammo in the legs and then the arms.

If you have to put ammo in a RH or LH torso, and you are running a STD engine, you can install CASE in the torso with the ammo. This will stop the ammo explosion from spreading to the center torso. If you are running an XL engine, CASE does not work since the engine is in the side torsos as well.

I just want to know how ammo makes it from the legs into the gun (past the knee joints and hip joints). My guess, the ghost of Kerensky.

Ideally in all the empty slots next to your gauss rife so it's not the only thing that can get critically hit in that location. Better to loose a few rounds of ammo harmlessly than have the rifle explode (likely taking out your XL in a lot of cases).

This is good to know. I always wished I could chose the bin it used first and with this info I can load accordingly.

I spread my ammo out - I try to have no more than a ton in a given location.

On my Yen-Lo (4 tons of AC/20 ammo), I have one ton in each leg, one in the head and one in the right torso. I used to put two tons in each leg, until I learned that two tons of exploding AC/20 ammo does devastating things.

Cockpit>Legs>Arms>Side torsos>Center torso

I also tend to fill higher risk sections with ammo that will be used more quickly (AC/2, U-AC/5, LRM), so that the ammo that will last longer will be better protected.

Legs, unless you are a light mech. Side torso's unless you have an XL engine.
