I'm sorry to everyone I played eith last night. Just picked up a nostromo yesterday and still figuring out what I like. Still on the fence about the d-pad for movement.

once you get used to it, it's great. The only problem is hitting forward when going left or right.....When im tryin to turn at a stand still, it doesn't take much to hit the forward arrow. I'm thinking about trying the key pad for movement

I'm going to give it a few more tries and if it doesn't click I might do that too. Maybe with F above W.

I am high elo player, these work for me nicely.

Dpad down= reverse
Dpad away= next target
Dpad towards you= JJ
Dpad up= toggle zoom level

Button above Dpad = toggle Map

WASD= movement
E(04) = coolant flush
shift(11)= push to talk
Scroll wheel button= toggle mouse sense(i have 2 different setting for windows/mwo)
Scroll wheel down= cockpit lights
tilde(01)= startup/shdown
X(13)= 0% throttle
tab(06)= scoreboard
Q(02)= also toggle zoom
R(05)= also next target
C(14)= show player info/health
Y(12)= override shutdown
F(10)= toggle thermal

01 and 06 require remapping to tilde and tab.

I'm taking notes. I've a d pad myself but don't use it. I might give it another try next week.

When you face/use the current cheese. Noticed when I drop with friends the GaussaPPC's just seem to proliferate compared to my normal ELO.
And no, you have a rough idea, but it is kept secret by PGI.

What else would I have with ~2.0 win to loss?

The middle of the elo curve is the 1.0 w/l... its not hard to figure out.

Ahh, the middle.

Where I get my 4 kill games on Friday and Saturday nights by selectively messing with Trial mechs (high NOOB probability with the ridiculous initial Elo score) and get my posterior handed to me on Monday and Tuesday nights by the vaguely serious 4-man squads.

In the middle, no one knows you are ridiculous...

Still changing my set up. Spent more time in training grounds tweaking everything. I still like the dpad for movement so far.
And I'm so far from the middle its shameful.

dpad works great for movement if you have throttle decay turned on. use the circle button for 100% throttle (auto run ftw). i disagree with using the dpad for non movement bindings.

my button assignments:
1-push to talk
2-weapons group 3
3-weapons group 2
4-weapons group 1
5-zoom
6-team info ( Q )
7-weapons group 6
8-weapons group 5
9-weapons group 4
10-target ( R )
11-jump jets
12-macro
13-night vision
14-thermal vision
space-scoreboard
dpad-wasd
circle-throttle max

anything else is less twitch reaction dependent and can be hit on the keyboard. weapon groups 1 and 2 could be freed up since they are also on the mouse but i like having the symmetry and being able to hit them if somehow my primary group selection got moved over in game while rearranging...which has happened on more than one occasion.

You can save alot of those if you map weapon groups to your mouse... if you have 2 side buttons, you're pretty much ready for anything.

I've grown completely dependant on my Nostromo. I don't want to play w/o it.
I use the equivalent wasd keys for movement. Only thing I currently use the dpad for is jump jets. ymmv

Only weapon group I have assigned to the nostromo is 6, using a macro so I can toggle my tag on/off rather than have to hold a button down.

I use a logitech thumb trackball mouse so that doesn't work in my case. It does have 2 extra buttons on top that are set to +- throttle but they don't register that well for some reason and I never really run at non max speed anyways.

And those buttons have been used as my 1-0 action bars\attacks in pretty much every other game I've played on pc so it feels right with them being my weapons keys. Can swap back and forth between games and still know what I'm doing.

For mice I have a 2011 deathadder, and a 2013 orochi, and I'll say if I'd get something it'd be a mamba, 1ms response wireless with rechargeable battery isn't beatable.

Its $130 though, so if you want something lower the deathadder is a great fallback.

The naga is a different form factor than the two above, so I can't comment.

Used the early Naga at one stage, and the extra buttons rock. Mind you though you can only reliably use 6 anyway. With the Hex you may run into trouble with the rear button, depending on how far back it actually is
Naga also a wee bit small, at least the early version. The Ultimate you can tweak a bit.
