I have been reading these forums for the last several weeks so far and the tone of some has been getting more and more heated and extreme. The various "Demands" for beta invites must make them cringe (I cringe every time.) Considering all the posts they give us, and weekly content, along with limited beta invites, I feel that they have been very engaged in the community.

The way I look at it, they are working hard to get this game to a state where more people can play it (think July 17th when the Founders folks get to join the beta.) That will be one hell of a rush on their servers, it will probably go from like 1-2k to 24k over night. I hope they get this work done and that the community can be a little less extreme and more supportive.

And to be honest, the founders will get in the beta in a months time, it is not that long to wait in the scheme of our lives. I will be in line to buy the founders package and support the guys at PGI.

So, a little sympathy for the devil...I mean the developers? <_< (god I love that Rolling Stones song.)

I've said it before: a riled up fan base is better than NO fan base, as long as you continue to show progress on your product.

This happens with every game with Closed Beta/Alpha. Don't get in? Play something else while waiting for release.

You're supposed to be weed out things that the QA people have missed, playing it early is a bonus.

Problem is every one has that big yellow pending button that says check back soon .Problem is its staying yellow.
A irritated fan base is not a good start for a MMO. Can end up driving away allot of potential paying
customers if you irritate them enough.

I'm sorry the Devs actually have to read some of these posts.

BTW, Devs do they actually pay you to read this or is it voluntary? <_<

Figure its all in a days work for them. Its got to be in the job description somewhere <_<
I thank em for what they are doing. Dont think they are sweating forum posts as much
as meeting a deadline.

Don't confuse a few highly vocal individuals with "the fanbase". Most of the regular posters are fairly calm in my opinion. Sure some seem to have a bit of mech fever and may post some cringeworthy begging for beta, but most of the time, I don't feel this forum has changed that much.

Regarding the topic: No, I don't feel particularly sorry for the developers. Most of them probably don't have the time nor energy to check the forums as often. the one's that do are probably quite thick-skinned anyway. If anything, I'm a bit envious of them because they get to work on an exciting project that may end up being very successful.

I see where you are coming from but frankly I appreciate the fact that the Devs' actually gave us a mechanism to see whether were in or not (though frankly if you need a big blue light to remind you to check your emails I'm worried for you).

Could see how slightly less patient (IE a large proportion of the people on the 'net these days) could find it frustrating though.

Community managers tend to be hired due to how thick their skins are. Also, non CM devs who browse forums tend to do it when they feel like they could stand to benefit from it, or if it's something they liked doing and has become routine.

Many of the fans that are waiting for this game are not posting but checking the website daily for news about the game. Not all die hard fans are going to post in the forums. They can see I want the game by the number of times I log into the website daily.

I don't feel bad for them lol, they probably don't care what everyone is flipping out about each day. It is pretty normal anyway, I remember before most people knew jumpgate evolution was cancelled people on their forums were arguing about death penalty and friendly fire in game.
... I lol'd because I'd already been told well in advance at that time that the plug had been pulled, "by top men" Dr. Jones.

Though it is wierd to me how some stuff I read on the forums seems hateful when debating silly things like probable weights and tech of giant fighting robots. The devs can read about game mechanics that are making people rage quit even though these mechanics aren't in game/or more importantly these people haven't played yet and get a laugh.

The devs are doing the work as best they can i know it takes time.I have been waiting years for a new mechwarrior game. I know i can wait a little longer without disturbing them as im looking forward to the results of their hard work.

I kinda feel sorry for them that WoT basically ruined the pay to win model. Not that ID want it mind you, its lucrative for the DEVS and the more money they make the better and longer the game stays

Do i feel bad for them, no. Do i have compassion for what they are trying to do, abso!@#$%lutely, this can not be easy in a stretch of the imagination. I'm sure they run the gambit of emotions about the forums, good and bad. I would guess they get a 'feeling' of what's going on in the forums by briefly glancing at the topics. Ask yourself what it is you would be doing if the roles where reversed. I believe I wouldn't have much time to read as much as i would like.
