Armed forces with 21st century technology have weapons systems which are normally set to not fire upon Friendly transponders. It should be within the realm of technical ability of those who can make 'Mechs to at least have Friend or Foe, or at least just Friend weapon systems.
Friend Or Foe? Or At Least Just Friend?

Yeah, while I think they should leave friendly splash damage and collateral damage intact, I think that a Mech's IFF sensors should be technologically advanced enough to recognize a targeted friendly and lock-up weapons systems temporarily while the cross hairs are directly over them, preventing the pilot from accidentally "pulling the trigger" on a friendly. Also, a small "Warning" symbol should appear over the friendly target letting the pilot know it's a friendly target.
HOWEVER, they must add a toggle key (mapped to G by default) that allows the pilot to disengaged the IFF protocol on the mech to allow them to purposely fire on a friendly target.
If not, I'm cool with just leaving it the way it is.
