The question is in the title. This new system will add an qdditional layer of (unwarranted IMO) complexity to an already complex game (at least to someone unfamiliar with mechwarrior) . What is PGI going to do to alert new players of this mechanic? What SHOULD they do to alert players? Perhaps use the weapon tables in game and add a field "max alpha" or something to warn how many of that weapon will cause the heat gain. Of courwe, this doesn't solve the issue of PPC and ERPPC being tied together, a fact many new players would not be privy to.
What Is Pgi Doing To Alert New Players About Their Proposed Heat System?

It's possible to put them in the Mechlab stats for a weapon. I believe the "heat damage" stat is uselessly occupying space which could potentially house this info (even the Flamer uses a custom algorithm, instead of that stat).
In any case, I'll just get this info from smurfy's mechlab.

It is called reading the patch notes which is usually a good idea when you see there has been a new patch to the game your playing. If you don't read them then it is your fault, not PGIs.

Not enough people read them... I'm serious when I say this.
Even Blizzard feeds you the patch notes after patching. MWO does not force any such thing on you. You don't have the excuse in a Blizzard game. In MWO, ignorance is not bliss.

This will likely only be communicated to players that don't roam the forums when UI v2.0 comes around, whenever that happens to be.

Tbh I see this being more of a problem for players who been playing a while.
New guys will still have the same level of knowledge so not really changing much.
Not hard thing to explain, maybe use an add to promote the new incoming changes.
Replace one of the spots were they sell you stuff for a few days.
Make sure the general mass has caught up and then it would be left to the community.
