If a med laser still does 5 damage and is 1 ton and 1 slot is it necessary that it does 4 heat just because the TT says so? Even if that's unbalanced?

ML in TT is 3 heat. PGI has played with heat levels and that's one reason we are in this balancing mess.

Berserker Called he wants to talk to you Jobe. ;)

100t
70KpH (ish)
Pinpoint accuracy(ish)

I'm not saying assault's can't go 70kph, of course they can (hello Charger!). But they can't do that AND have pin-point accurate alphas capable of one-shotting lighter 'mechs.

There are many minor balancing issues that would be best served by slightly breaking w/ TT. Weapon damage, range, and heat; mech speed/maneuverability, general mech 'perks'; etc.

There are many more major balancing issues that would be best served by adhering much closer to TT: heat generation/penalties; pinpoint accuracy/convergence, jump jets, weapon accuracy affected by movement, heat, terrain, damage, etc; sensors; and more...

So on one hand, I agree w/ the OP, and on the other, his blanket statement holds no merit.

Most of the things you listed are either minor issues, dont factor in at all (convergence), or would be far less of an issue if you first balanced weapons.

If you balance the most important part of the game -- ie damage output -- then all the other elements became far easier to balance. It's like an equation where you know the value of X and have to figure out what Y and Z are. It's alot harder if you dont first know what the value of X is.
