Just gonna put this out there. What if, instead of just knocking a mech on its butt on collision, it caused the mech to stagger? What I mean by that is that it would be forced to move in the direction it was knocked towards, the cockpit would shake heavily and convergence/aiming would be nonexistent for a few moments, and moving mechs would be slowed down. The amount would obviously depend on the mech being tackled compared to the mech doing the tackling, and would affect both mechs (the tackler would stumble backwards instead, if the target they hit was heavy enough - kinda like running into a wall).

i made a similar suggestion a while back. while i don't agree that knock downs should completely go away, they should be fairly rare and only involve collisions at relative speeds higher than around 200kph. <-basically it should only ever really happen when two light mechs suffer a head on collision while going full speed. and obviously heavier mechs should care less.
