Lets just give every mech 5 times the armor, that way no matter what Alpha a mech can mount or apply in just one hit, it will always take like 10 hits to that section to knock it out.

Hell it might even make the game more fun if it was really hard to kill or be killed.

Seriously though, this seems to be what everyone wants because the biggest complain I keep seeing is that it isn't "fair" that a enemy can do 40 points of damage to their CT in one shot and perhaps kill them in 2-3 shots. Therefore just make it so that can't happen and balance problems are solved.

Let's balance the game around a mechanic that is supposed to only be used in emergencies, one that typically is supposed to have serious consequences.

You are being sarcastic... right?Posted Image

Actually I started out kinda sarcastic but to be honest the more I thought about it, the more I realized something like this would fix alot of the issues people are complaining about. Although it could very well create more issues.

Seriously though, the complaint is the amount pin point damage an enemy can do in one shot. This is the crux of the boated PPC or AC/20 issue and why everyone complains. However if a single Alpha didn't so throughly destroy a sections armor or prehaps even core the mech in the case of lights, then doing 40 pin point damage would't be an issue. If it instead took 5-10 40 point damage shots to do it, well no issue exists at least with doing 40-60 pin point alphas.

Honestly, I am not saying do this but I am looking at the problem from another angle. What besides nerfing PPCs to oblivion would make people happy and/or solve the issue.

Another solution might be to make it so each section on a mech had say 6 individual hitboxes each with say 80 armor (if the torso had a value of 80 armor to begin with). This way not only would you have to hit the CT but hit the damaged hitboxes in the CT to core out a Awesome in 2-3 shots. Again it would fix the problem.

Additionally having more durablity MIGHT actually make the game more fun. For example I don't think anyone enjoys being cored out by LRMs in 15 seconds flat just because you got TAGed by a light and can't find good cover immediately. If you had more durabilty then you might actually be encourged to actually fight more and hide less and you would be in the fight much longer on average.

To put it bluntly, I am not sure if it would improve the game at all but now that they got a test server, it would be really nice to try it and find out hehe.
