Until I've seen this, I thought the least probable thing I've seen was a poptart PPC headshot from a click away. But this is just weird...

At the moment, as I recall, my CT armor was in the light yellow. When the missiles hit there was a 1/4 second rattling sound, and then BAM - this:

I carry 46 armor on the front CT on this thing... This thing struck me as kinda odd, usually if you get cored in 2 seconds, don't you at least see more weapons on the damage report than... an lrm-15?

Stalker. Launches in an LRM-10 pattern, which is pretty tight.

I am not sure what you are driving, but you did get other superficial damage to the rest of your parts. Just not much compared to the CT.

Looks like it was probably 4 LRM15s hitting you in the CT straight from the front at short range (300ish meters maybe). Blackjacks are not that great at taking hits, so it only makes sense that you'd be blown away by such a volley.

O sorry, I should have mentioned that

Its a BJ-1, gauss in the right arm, so not likely an explosion or anything...
I got tickled by a stalker a bit earlier, but that was just that.
I've gotten cored quickly plenty of times in my life, but in this instance it was a Treb running perpendicular to my LOS, about 200m, and just spat out an lrm-15.

Meh, I've been getting cored by LRMs in my front CT even if I show them my back. Welcome to balance PGI style.

Lol mongoose, I liked your post more b4 u edited it :)

But yeah, I did not consider a multiple lrm-15 hit.

It was really just the odd odd way the soundbyte of the lrm hit played (kinda like a skipping cd i guess) that struck me

An awesome with artemis and TAG comes to mind. 4x LRM15s with a very tight grouping.

That was my first thought seeing as they've just gone on sale this weekend, but then op said it was a treb.

Just because the Treb got the last-hit on you doesn't mean he was the only source of LRM-15s. It could well be that you were the target of a focused volley from a pre-made lance and the Treb just got the kill credit.

Well I was just trying out a treb in mechlab (I know not the same as live games) and my treb with 2x ALRM15 and TAG could core the stock atlas in 3 volleys. Depending on your armor that may still be possible.

Well this wasn't exactly a "last hit" scenario, I had only a hair of damage on the CT.

It didn't look like a 45 lrm cloud either...

But then again maybe it was, I was just curious if somebody could make sense out of it, and it seems like u guys did :)

Your not the only one, cept in my cases I die with out losing a single part. What happens is someone launches a LRM volley at me, the game freezes for a second then BAM a violent explosion and I am dead without losing a single piece of my mech. It has happend to a few people I know too. Also sent PGI a bug report on it.

EDIT: in one case it was a highlander that got hit by a small laser volley from a jenner f with fresh armor and he froze for a second and died. Some weird **** sometimes.

O Scheiße!!!!!

So maybe it's not just me!

With the hitboxes the way they are, I could see something (from the coder's POV)... like....
try {
lrmDamage(x);
}
catch (e == NaN)
{
debug.log("errr.... we'll figure it out later");
DestroyTarget();
}
