I just thought I'd bring this to attention, even though im sure its been said before. But maybe a visual will help.

here's a shot of river city today:

Now here's a shot of the same area in river city, but in closed beta, before the cryengine update:

You see the difference? I'm wondering why River City (and all the maps actually) look worse than closed beta? There are missing shadows as you can see there, the shadows from the trees are missing...and the lighting seems to be non-existant in todays river city map, where in closed beta, it is bright and vibrant and actually noticeable.

What are your game settings?
Are you using a customized user.cfg?

No. Both these screenshots were taken with max settings. No custom config or anything.

It seems there's a growing quantity of posts about this, and it is without doubt worrying that we don't have nearly as much eyecandy we should be having, at least when compared as before(too bad I wasn't at closed beta to see that at the time).

The game was undoubtedly prettier.

Optimization for the people who use toasters instead of gaming PCs.

If they could make that sort of dynamic lighting a simple toggle switch that would be fantastic.

This. It was to allow more players into the game with old machines.

I REALLY hope there are numerous settings for graphics control in UI 2.0. My PC is like 3 years old, but the processor and PSU, RAM were all like 1 month old at time of build, so my machine plays like an average build 6 month old PC now. I do need to upgrade my graphics card soon though, they have come a long way in the last year or so on GPU powah.

As a CB player, this game has been on general DECLINE in quality. I used to be able to play on max settings in CB with at least 40fps. Now I have to run everything on low and OCCASIONALLY I'd get 40. This game looks bad, feels bad and generally is since then. Not to be called a doomsayer or whatever, just my opinion.

UI 2.0 will only working on the front end, IE: the mechlab. Nothing else.

I expect this and more to come back once DX11 is implemented. Too bad there is no timeline for that.
