PPCs also cost 3 times the crit slots and 7 times the weight.

I am always confused when people bring up stuff like DPS/HPS ratios or things like that. How is that alone a useful benchnmark - you have to consider other stats like weight, crit slots, range, without that, you can't make any meaningful consideration.

I was considering them...the added weight and slots of PPCs/ERPPCs aren't significant barriers as we can see because we have 6 PPC builds.

wait so if a ppc boat fires 4 ppcs and they generate 60 heat instead of 40... It's a buff?
Boy please, have your logic checked.

The point is that either way the boat will produce 60 heat. Because of that additional heat they will produce from tomorrow on. But if PPC min heat is set higher it is more tempting to boat PPCs because its more efficient than cycling 2 of them. Pop out shoot, retreat and cool down. Way more efficient that standing in the open and cylce one PPC shot after another.

That why I only use ER PCC.

That produces way more heat than an AC 20. Your comparison is wrong this way.

You'll get your barriers by fighting boating not PPC itself.

It has been said that PPCs aren't the problem, but the amount of damage a robot can take before it is disabled or destroyed.
Raising the heat isn't going to make the problem go away.
There's still dual gauss, dual AC20s and due to the range that PPCs can be used, the time taken to cool off is greatly offset by their sniper range.

PPCs aren't the only problem.

That heat is well worth 800 max damage range vs 270 no ammo to expolde or crits slots taken up buy the weapon and ammo. I can fit extra heat sinks will that that exta crit space. That heat is not that bad at all with double heat sinks. Two ER PPC > AC20.

BS. You compare 2 weapons with different purposes.

Moreover that ammo you have to store is lower weight than all these heatsinks I have to put in my Cataphract (Marauder loadout with an AC2, 18 DHS). Honestly I never had an AC20 ammo explosion on any Mech. Wonder why... Because I store it better?

By overheating you expose your Mech to all enemys nearby, you never considered that though it happens quite often if you use ER PPCs.

Still, you can't compare these 2 Weapons.

ER PPC should do 1.5x the heat of a standard PPC.

Yes but in alternative to the additional heat when fired in groups.

My vote is actually for PPCs to deal some splash.

Nope heat sinks and ammo are both one ton. Three or Four tons of ammo is that many extra heat sinks.

You only overheat if you're stupid enough to fire your weapons and you didn't check to see if they would overheat you.
Sure it happens occasionally to the best of us. But you sound like someone who needs his hand held to stop him from alpha'ng everytime his weapons are finished with their cooldowns.

Let's help Paul in his investigation by showing him how many of you believe PPC's and ERPPC's need an increase on the heat they generate. :)

You can tell him in the official feedback thread found here:
