I wanted to bring up something minor that affects my gameplay.
The mini-map.
I would like to see higher definition of the Mech outlines or more contrast. Maybe multiple view modes, or choices in addition to terrain:
- Monochrome/Grayscale - color blind folks
- Road map - think Bing maps
- Heat map - could be interesting
- Height map - since terrain is now part of strategy
Why not? Sure it would be a back burner thing I guess. Fine details makes a game classy.

The biggest issue is when I use it for situational awareness to figure out if I am in a position to flank or move my line of fire to cut into an already engaged Mech. The mini-map is hard to read sometimes.
Keep in mind I am not trying to "study" the mini-map during a fight. However, I often find myself spending focus on the map instead of being able to glance and make a decision.
Perhaps less detail on terrain or higher contrast higher resolution Mech outlines. They feel very low (grainy) even when in 1920x1080.
Had opportunity today for an exciting maneuver - opposition STK lots of rain, I backed off out of sight in Atlas, and they retargeted someone. Another STK and I moved around behind his LOS and just plastered him into Tourmaline desert.
I believe moments and situations like this could be more commonplace (or anticipated) if the mini-map was cleaner, easier to read. Information is power.
Thoughts?
