'cause this is pretty cheap: COM-1B
If you have the engine around already, it's 3.8 mil. EDIT: If you have to buy the engine it's 5 mil.
You can go with three medium lasers instead, but I got better performance out of the small pulses. Can't use the streaks around ECM 'mechs, but most of your loadout is energy so you aren't neutered. Just keep the streaks in reserve to fight light 'mechs and zap the hell out of bigger targets.

Do strafing runs, and when the enemy team is focused on yours, pop up behind them and core their rear from behind. If they're not paying much attention, they won't notice you until it's too late, and you can net yourself a kill pretty quickly doing that.
Had fun doing that in a few matches - oh, the hate I got when they realized what was going on. <3

Endo, Ferro, XL 255
1 ER Large Laser
4 Machine guns (1 ton ammo)
4 JJ
Max armour
If you find yourself running out of ammo (and care) either drop 2 JJ or switch out the laser for a med/med pulse. Troll build par exellance...

Great for up close and personal fights, and the mech's size helps you avoid being hit, normally. Best used in tight spaces, such as river city (in the streets) or on canyon, since you can scale the cliffs. Also, people tend to shoot you once, then ignore you thinking you couldn't have survived. Make them regret their mistake.
I also tested a variant that used a machine gun and a small laser, but the damage output was a lot less.

I've done something similar in the Raven. I think the LBX is best used in a light, that way you can still swing around wildy and hit the enemy due to the LBX spread. Only downside is the tonnage requirements forces your light to be a little slower than you would like.

Yea, pretty much what I was getting at. Best the Raven can do with the LBX seems to be about 110 kph. Not terrible, but not quite fast enough to stay safe.
Hitting with lasers isn't normally a problem with a light, but hitting with ballistics in full manuver mode, that is a lot more trickier.

Fair enough. It's the mech I run when I'm having fun. I find it amusing to watch people stop and look around for a moment when they get hit by the LBX.
