First off none of my Mech configs have been affected by the new heat scaling except my AWS-8Q which was too weak already. (I don't own Stalker, Jagermech, K2 or C1). I guess I just don't boat unless as in the AWS-8Q, the hardpoints force you too. I use group-fire alot though because I use a joystick which favors group-fire over single-fire.

To the point though. 2xAC20 and 3xPPCs are not cheats and compared to ClanTech configs they are moderate damage configs. Clan Tech will easily beat those damage rates with fewer weapons and much better heatsinks, at which point Inner Sphere mechs will need those grouped weapon set-ups, 2xAC20 and 3xPPCs or similar just to keep up.

The problem the heatscaling is supposed to alieviate will also still be there which is the Mechs get destroyed in just a few seconds of combat usually and players have no chance to retreat from a bad position.

So my advice is to start looking at how you can make the Mechs tougher for when the Clans arrive and you need to abandon the current heat scaling which is really just an Inner Sphere nerf.

Seriously, When I get a Mad Cat I might decide to carry 2x Clan ERPPCs at 30 damage 30 heat and 2xLRM 20's (5-6 tons each) and cool it with 20 or so DHS, go about 75-80 KPH. Under the current heat scaling penalties how would an I.S. mech respond to that except with a squishy sounding, "Ba-BOOOM!" ?

You talk like you think PGI are going to let the Clan Mechs be...Clan Mechs. By the time PGI have finished with the Mad Cat it will look like this

LoL. I don't think they will nerf Clan Tech. It's hard-coded into the lore to be OP. Inner Sphere gets a few OP weapons in eight years.

However the real reason the heat scale won't affect experienced players is you just go into Mechlab, replace the over-alpha-limit weapons with something else. I didn't even have to do this.

Once Clan Tech hits, oh the agony, the rants, the wild accusations. You know how it goes.

So you make Mechs tougher sometime before the Clan Mechs arrive.

This is really an impartial view too. I am having no problems with MWO, I adapt to whatever is current. That doesn't mean I can't see what's likely ahead, though.
