...the best and most fun to play!

If you're in a team that has the most asaults, you stomp the enemy team. Mediums are practically non-existent, lights become an annoyance.

...the worst and most frustrating to play!

If you're in a team that has less assaults then the enemy, you get stomped. There are no mediums to cover your flanks and lights get eaten too fast.

NO, you're both wrong and I was an ***** to start with my first assault mech today. Should've waited until PGI figures out something to make the matches more diverse! ;)

Maybe for you it is.

Personally, I like using my highlanders, alot of folks seem to like the victor so i might level it up next.

I tell you what the most frustrating thing for me to play is. Using Mechs without JJ's getting stuck on every pebble you run across.

ELO divides the weight Classes, or tries too. Drawback is it counts an Awesome the same as an Atlas so occasionally you get one team with 3 Atlas and one with 3 Awesomes and the 3 Atlas will win.

I'm fairly sure it calculates by tonnage not chassis. If you compare weight they are usually pretty close.

Assaults make great targets. My Cat A1 cores them pretty well.

I own one Assault mech.... and it is a Founder's Atlas that has sat in a mechbay with no engine since pretty much the beginning.

I just don't like the clunky feel of lumbering Assaults

I have been in many matches with 6 assaults on one team and 1 - 2 on the other. Weight is not factored in or is very minor.

That would be false Zilla. I was on a team today that had 4 Atlas, 2 Victors(one was mine) and we lost to a Heavy/Medium unit that used Terrain beautifully! The match was as frustrating as it was enlightening.

Exceptions happen from time to time. Most of the time it's within 40-60 tons difference. When it's over that, then you should start getting worried.

http://cloud-2.steam...5DDEC40EDA9086/

Guess the builds for the 3Fs. That's a 90 ton difference. But wait, hold on. Is this always true? No.

http://cloud.steampo...AF1B724B4990F6/

We outweighed them by 20 tons. We lost. But it was clsoer than the first picture where we were way out classed.

That is the only reason to invest that kind of money! ;)

Patently not true.

Had a match with 4 spiders and our 3 assaults and a Cent. The opposing team was 3 Stalkers, 3 Atlases and 2 Highlanders.

Sometimes seriosly mismatched drops can produce epic games though. Had one a few nights ago where our 4 man was 2 Raven 3Ls, a Spider 5K and an X5 (ok, so running a light lance is kinda asking for it in this meta i know...) We got 2 victors a stalker and a wang on our team vs SEVEN assaults and a hunchback, one of which was a 4 man LRM lance, and it seemed like the other 3 were packing too.

We made a few hit and runs, then saw they were all fatties and went to cap, taking it down to a sliver, but none took the bait so we went back in to harras, with the option of bugging out for a lame cap win if things went south. Twice we split to go cap it out, but one of our victors was putting out heroic amounts of damage and killed 2 of them at the right times that we were always ahead 1, so we went back in to try and finish up. Our light lance did ouver 2000 damage and got 6 kills between us, while the victor did over 1000 and 2 kills pretty much by himself. Running in and out of a spead out LRM team with BAP and dodging missiles for 10 minutes focuses the mind somewhat.

I worked out the tonnage difference afterwards ... 225 tons. That's 3 cataphracts in other words.

ELO...ELO does this:

When I those 4 Atlas standing shoulder on shoulder in a firing line it cracked me up. It was the perfect picture of the current meta.

Now if that enlightenment would strike the rest of the playerbase...but it wont. PGI has to do something. It has been steadily getting worse and worse over the past two weeks. A match with 100% assault...it is not far, I can feel it.

That looks like working as inteded to me. Every mech is assault and heavy with the exception of the Trebuchet. Damage is spread out nicely and they got one AFK person on the opposing team.

Unless you get capped. Then the insults start to fly.

Or is it the whining?

I get by fine in my 4sp especially since the SRM buff. Got it mastered recently too which makes it even nicer to pilot. Weight limiting is sorely needed at any rate and luckily it's coming.
