Of course it is all speculation until we can get in to try it out.

Which leaves us with nothing to discuss at this time.

I am more than a little concerned that there are going to be horrific que times for matches and that most solo players will not be able to get in. People will not want a random player they don't really know anything about when they can just run a team with players they know and can rely on. I am not sure how this will effect the random casual players. Of course it is all speculation until we can get in to try it out.

This is a forum. (see quote about speculation in sig) :) They are mostly about guessing, opinions and quoting devs :) (this is also an opinion)...Thankfully there is a forum

I wouldn't really worry about solo queue times since there will be PLENTY of other solo people playing. Not everyone has a group of friends that like mech games. Not everyone has a guild mentality.

Not sure how well your team made of solo will do against a premade team on voice over ip though :D (guessing not well)
Maybe they will do groups of solo against solo and groups of premade against premade (who knows)

I would however worry if you are an attack/defend assault lol :D (guesing here again) Lots of people new to the game will get the biggest thing they can unless the devs put some kind of required in game tutorial that they MAKE them read to try and convince them not to go assault lol (of course they won't ALL go assault)

I am guessing (YAY, more speculation) that the commander in heavy or medium will get the fastest solo queue (assuming that the servers pick from tonnage AND role). That is what role polls have said anyway since commander was the least popular. (but, the sample size on those aren't exactly huge) :D

I also think that the majority won't think the commander role is right for them without even trying it.

I don't think that there will be substantial que times. The devs have stated that you will be able to group together with up to 11 of your friends and all join the same team. Beyond that, matchmaking will probably be fairly random. Some stats will come into play of course, but people should not have trouble fitting into matches.

I hadn't planned on going with an assault mech. I do like the bigger mechs but I think this game will be more about maneuverability, so I was thinking of a medium maybe. Of course I like the Omni mechs better just because they are more appealing to me aesthetically. So we will see.
I hate to bring up WoW but when I used to play that game queing for random dungeons took for ever. This is more what I was concerned about, and yes I do realize this game will be nothing like WoW. Thank GOD.

Actually it is a good point. There are 3 roles (basically) in that game, and 3 in this
Not exact role crossover obviously.

We will probably need more commanders. (just speculating)
In MWO it sounds like a person can mix it up a bit.

Depending on how many available module slots mech has anyway....Hopefully it won't be WoW random dungeon queue time since everyone will be in queue who aren't already in a match, in mechlab or offline(they won't be questing/crafting/raiding other misc stuff)

I guess it depends on, can a match be formed where no one can do the commander or scout role at all. (as in all the pilot points and modules are attack/defend)
Also depends on if it will put 4 people in a lance where all they have is assaults in their mechlab.
If it can put 4 assault in the same lance, and there is a drop limit, do they have to have some leave since all they own is assaults?

^ I guess we will see how smart the match making server is. If it can match people of appropiate tonnage/role
