Steps to Reproduce
0. Download and run the Test Installer.
1. Select a Custom Install.
2. Set the Install Location to the same folder as the Live version on your PC.
3. Click OK and allow installation of the Test version to complete.
4. Boot the Live version of MWO.
5. Login to the Live version of MWO.
6. Observe crashing.

Workarounds
Do NOT install the Test version to the same folder as the Live version.
N.B. The default install path for the Test is pre-set to a different folder than the default Live version installation.

actually if you install to ANYTHING other than be default folder it breaks the test as well. In my experience anyway.

I'm having a hell of a time getting the Public Test to install. I've described the issue in a less relevant thread while trying to sort my constant 'reset of settings in-game'.

I'm not sure if my brain is just failing me today or if there is something technically wrong. I tried last week to install the Public Test to a separate custom folder D:\Piranha Games\MWO Pubic Test. This was fine last week, although the installer never successfully passed the checksum verification. Tried several uninstall/re-install attempts but gave up as the test hours are so limited and I missed it.

Today, I have a different issue. The installer seems to think I have the Beta installed in the directory where I want the Public Test. Which is again as above D:\Piranha Games\MWO Public Test. The Beta however is installed to D:\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online. ;)

I decided earlier to ignore the message warning me of bad things, and installed it where I wanted it anyway. The Public Test installer complete successfully (so it indicated), however there was no new data installed. And I thought well perhaps it dumped it into the Beta's install location, but no new data there since the last update.

Any help would be great, guess I'll likely miss todays 12vs12 test. I have gone to the extent of uninstalling everything related to the game I could find. But alas, this same issue persists.
