From the forum it seems Steiner is known for their:

-Atlas
-Zeus (not in game)
-Banshee (not in game [yet])
-Moar Atlas
-Commando
-Atlas scouting variant

I was wondering of the announced / in game mechs, what belonged to who.

Thanks!

lets go from small to large.

Locust - Generic
Flea - WD and capcon
Commando - Steiner
Spider - Dracs and Marik
Raven - Capcon
Jenner - Dracs
Cicada- generic (but primarily fedcom capcon and fwl
Blackjack - fedsuns
Centurion - marik fedsuns
trebuchet marik fedsuns
shadow hawk - drac/generic
dragon - drac
catapult drac/capcon
thunderbolt - FWL/generic
Cataphract - capcon/davion (but far more cataphracts are in capcon than davion space.)
Orion - FWL/generic
Awesome - FWL
Victor - drac/fedsuns/capcon
Stalker - FWL
Battlemaster - davion is known to favor this design, but it is not produced in their space. with one factory in steiner space and the rest being in either fwl capcon or drac space. the one in steiner space is captured early in the clan invasion.
Highlander - Draconis EXCLUSIVE. no other house has more than a couple. and i mean no other house.
Atlas - Steiner/Fedsuns/Dracs

note at this point marik trades heavily with capcon, so we would have easy access to all their designs. (basically where ALL our assault mechs come from, cause at this point technically we don't have a factory that produces an assault desing as St. Ives is separate.)
and generic means it is fairly common in all armies.

Atlas is a difficult beast to actually pinpoint to one house. Everyone uses them and, for instance, Draconis Combine has more and uses them more than even you do...

As far as the rest is concerned, Liao is known for their:

- Raven
- Vindicator (not in game)
- Cataphract
- Catapult (once again a mech that wasn't designed by the house, but became synonymous with it in time)

Dracs are known for:

- Jenner
- Panther (not in game)
- Dragon

... Imo, I'm not very much a fan of them and the listing should probably get a bit extended by some other mechs not in the game.

Marik are known for:

- Cicada
- Trebuchet
- Orion (not in game yet)
- Awesome

Davions are known by quite a few design due to novels, even though said designs have nothing to do with them (like Cent), but for now, probably something like this:

- Centurion
- Enforcer (not in game)
- Jagermech
- Victor

There you go, a small list of mostly in-game design that ring the bell as this or that house for most people.

Nice list Thontor, but I can't think of a single Draconian who'd want a filthy medium Crab and not a Grand Dragon instead.

the easiest way to research the mechs and their origin is thru Sarna. just look up the name of the mech your interested in, and look at the companies that make it and read the description to see which houses field which variant.
http://www.sarna.net...t:_3050_Upgrade

example: hunchback. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hunchback

manufactured:

the HBK-5M variant in Marik by Kali yama http://www.sarna.net...pons_Industries

the HBK-4 variants in Steiner by Coventry metal works http://www.sarna.net...try_Metal_Works

the HBK-5 variants in steiner by norse-storm http://www.sarna.net...orm_BattleMechs

Someone wrote a pretty good post on this subject on reddit.

there are issues with the steiner section. Steiners don't have chargers. almost every charger in existence is in the Combine. very few left as salvage, due to the fact that the combine tends to use them as trainers and inner world security plus anti-pirate excursions. (it is noted as decent taking out mechs with main weapons disabled (likelier on pirates) and wasps/stingers)
Second, they don't have any factories that produce awesomes. (all surviving factories that produce the awesome according to sarna are in FWL space.)
