What title says. One of the main points to JJ is its possible to jump while retreating, say jump as you back up after spotting some baddies after turning a corner, making it much harder for them to land precise shots.

With a standard Forward momentum added this would simply not be possible and would end up as an unintended side effect nerf to the JJ.

So, the suggestion reads: JJs have forwards momentum if you were walking forwards when firing it, backwards momentum if you were backing up while firing them.

Or just disable throttle control while jumping and use the arrow keys to maneuver forwards and backwards mid-jump?

Edit: Never seen a double-single post before.

I agree JJs need their direction control-able.

And I wonder if lateral movement would be possible for JJ?

There was/is keybindings for the JJ's already.

Basically Q and E were bound to JJStrafeLeft and Right. W was JJforwards, S JJbackwards etc.

They just never did anything in the builds we got afaik. (Maybe someone who was in some of the earliest builds b4 CB got to try it out, but afaik it never worked in any CB build)

I'd say they either tested it out already a long time ago & found some problems (would of been way worse lag and sync problems back then for any out of house testers) or just set some of the easier things up ready to go for future use.

So yeah, I agree with OP, it shouldn't be forced forward movement all the time if they do implement it. You should be able to tell it when you want forwards or backwards etc.

What you mean is directional. This is what MW:LL does, and technically what JJ's should be doing.

In that game depending on what key you are holding and pressing the jump key, you will jump in that direction (with the WASD keys). So you run smack into an ambush, you can quickly hold S and press the jump key to go balls to the wall full flying reverse.

And it is quite possible to make JJ's that are exactly like Battle Tech's on the CryEngine:

There's another thread here for this as well (essentially saying that JJs should default to thrust in the direction of your current thottle setting) - strafing with Q and E would be nice, but not really needed.

not convinced. backward momemntum would make jumpsniping easier again people would stand behind buildings and jump straight back and snipe.

Its an entirely different issue, this is about the general agility advantage the JJ should give, not its usefulness for sniping. If it would make it out of hand, they can find someway to handle it. Mind you it already works like this as of current, my suggestion is to counter an indirect nerf that isn't yet in the game but is planned.

Just to be clear I'm not asking for sideways strafing craziness, I'm asking to simply keep the Forwards/backwards JJ movement and not make it Forwards only.
