When can we have this? I have faith PGI can implement the split crits just for this beautiful mech. We need the King Crab to compete with the Atlas in the 100 ton range!

No.
(First no!)

I think it would get owned. Not much potential with hard points.

If we get the King Crab at all, I would expect it to be with the KGC-000 (the archetypical variant), the KGC-0000 (the tech-downgrade variant), and the KGC-010 (the other non-Royal Star League variant).

However, one of the main problems with it is that the each of the KGC-000's AC/20s is split across the arm and the respective side-torso (more specifically, 8 of the gun's 10 criticals are in the arm, with the remaining two in the side-torso).
The KGC-0000 has the same issue, in reverse - the bulk of the AC/20s' criticals are in the side-torsos, with a smaller number of their criticals are spread into the arms.
The only remaining timeline-appropriate variant (and the one variant that would work in MWO's MechLab system, as-is) is the KGC-010.

Personally, I think it would be unlikely that we would see the KGC-000b in-game; it was the "Royal" variant, reserved for the SLDF Royal Divisions (the "elite core" of the SLDF, originating from the Cameron-controlled Hegemony), so the regular army of the SLDF (originating from the to-be Successor States) wouldn't have had access to it and the blueprints (as House Cameron would have actively denied them access to said blueprints) and the working examples of the variant would have left with Kerensky's exodus (such that they only exist in Clan space, if any still exist at all).
(That, and PGI has thus far avoided implementing the Royal variants of many other 'Mechs, likely for lore reasons as described above.)

I could even see one hypothetical hardpoint layout as follows:

KGC-000 (bulk of ACs in arms, overflowed to side-torsos; comes with CASE and FF Armor)
RA: 3 ballistic {AC/20}
RT: 1 missile {AC/20 overflow, LRM-15}
CT: n/a
HD: n/a
LT: 1 energy {AC/20 overflow, Large Laser}
LA: 3 ballistic {AC/20}

KGC-0000 (bulk of ACs in side-torsos, overflowed to arms; no LosTech)
RA: {AC/20 overflow}
RT: 2 ballistic, 3 missile {AC/20, LRM-15}
CT: n/a
HD: n/a
LT: 2 ballistic, 1 energy {AC/20, Large Laser}
LA: {AC/20 overflow}

KGC-010 (no AC splitting required; comes with CASE, DHS, and Endo Steel)
RA: 1 ballistic {LB 10-X AC}
RT: 2 energy, 1 missile {PPC, SRM-6}
CT: n/a
HD: n/a
LT: 2 energy, 1 missile {PPC, SRM-6}
LA: 1 ballistic {LB 10-X AC}

Each proposed variant would have eight hardpoints (putting them in the middle of the current Assault range of 6-10 hardpoints), with the proposed KGC-000 would have a greater ballistic hardpoint capacity than the others, the proposed KGC-0000 would have a greater missile hardpoint capacity than the others, and the proposed KGC-010 would have a greater energy hardpoint capacity than the others.

Your thoughts?

I want this mech in game badly because it will clearly demonstrate why the current heat scale method is BS. The current heat scale nerf that PGI implemented treats the symptoms (4xPPC, 2xAC20) while dancing around the real issue (perfect convergence for high-damage alphas).

This mech would be minimally capable of 2xGR/PPC. That's a 40 point alpha that never stops, is good at any range, and defies any attempts to balance things with heat.

After that, they can add the Annihilator, and the fun will REALLY begin.
