Thanks to PGI for working so hard on this title. I understand what an undertaking it is.
I've been following MWO and playing it for the last several months and although the game has *changed* since it was first released, every patch seems to include as many issues as it hoped to correct. Furthermore, the band-aid approach is turning into a soggy mess of band-**** on top of band-**** which is only perpetuating the problem. Initially I'd considered paying for in-game items, but the game seems degenerative to the point that anything I buy would likely be nerfed or reconfigured at some point. This uncertainty stems from your practices....
It's really pointless to be tweaking damage when you can only theorize what a direct hit might actually look like.
Instead of fixing hit detection, you've capped the number of weapon systems that can be fired at the same time without accruing penalties on the heat scale. Then you raise or lower damage values on weapon systems (LRMs, SRMs especially) when the underlying issue is hit detection. Adjusting how fast players earn CBills (which is based on damage done, which is based on hit detection) is a prime example of how your short-sighted approach to patching the game is creating an inferior game.
Of even more concern is the fact that...
You patch the game like it is in beta, but you market in-game items like a door to door salesman.
With elements of the game in disrepair (crash to desktop (CTD), missing map textures, hit detection, lack of game modes, lack of social interface and so on, one might think you'd focus your efforts on building the game interface. One might *think*...but the constant salesmanship becomes insulting after awhile. When suggestions are made, I've seen people run off the forums. "It's a BETA! It's still a work in progress!" Of course....but why the constant and misplaced effort to sell the game when it should be fixed instead?
You fix problems that weren't problems.
12v12? Adjusting CBills? Those aren't the things your users are asking for. Does PGI read these comments or is this forum intended to have a pacifying effect? Is this the elevator-close button that doesn't work? The crosswalk button at an intersection that gives me something to push until the light changes? We are smarter than that, and I for one, am tired of pushing the button.
