The hard part for me is that If I don't get into the Closed beta I won't have a chance to see what I like. Thus, I may get an Operation inception mech I detest and that would suck. Once your in it from the 17th of July and onwards they said they won't wipe, which means whatever you pick, you get. For better or worse.

I am also worried on that score myself. I think I want to go heavy but would like to try all the chassis before i have to choose my founder mech. i was hoping to get into beta to try the different class of mech and to check game play with those class.Since it does look to good for beta then I will be in the same boat and have to blindly pick the founder mech and hope i picked the right one with out test drive.

I feel the same way , no go , no doe . Way I look at it I have to try before I buy , otherwise no dice.
Reason being the last prepurchase of a game i made almost a year ago and its still not a
finished product. You know how it is once you get burned , you tend to be allot more wary .

I think that the choise wont matter... like in WoT, the real punch of the inception Mech is that it gives much more credits than a regular one... if you don´t completely like it´s not a problen since it gives money it´s a mech that works for making other mechs work!
my problem is that i will be travelling for 3 months (from july to end of september) and I wont be able to play... I want the operation inception mech and the premium account... but I dont know if the premium account becomes active when I buy the stuff or when I first enter the game, cause if it´s when I buy it I will waste my premium...
any clue in this???
forgive my englishhh...

I dont see any exact info on this, but I think the devs will give you a code that activates the package- much like how Microsoft/Sony/Steam run their online services. But this is a conjecture; I havent found info one way or the other.

I dont think you have to worry about having to pick a founder's mech before getting the chance to try out the different mechs. I haven't read any dev posts stating that you must choose your founder's mech at a pre-determined time. I would think that you would be able to choose your founder's mech at any point. This will allow you to try out different mechs before making this decision. Even if that meant not choosing your founder's mech until months after release.

I would guess that you'll pick your founders mech upon activation of the founders package

What if you get the founder with the 1 or 2 month premium and the whole time you cant log in because the server is a log jam ?
Basically waste all your premium time .

... Pay for it...

Wait for open access...

Make a throw away account...

Play until you know what mech you like...

Log in with Founder account and pick mech...

See, that was simple. But I HIGHLY doubt you have to pick your mech before you try out what you like, so I don't really care. But I thought all the worried people would like to see how to get what they want IF they are locked into having to pick before trying...

To everyone that keeps harping that the Founders package does not give beta access, here's proof that it does give beta access.

what he said...I see lots of people mixing up the June and July dates...it was stated correctly here. To reiterate.

Closed Beta starts basically right now and we will be inviting in thousands of users starting anytime now.

June 19th Founders goes on sale. Closed beta continues to grow in the mean time.

July 17th Founders program launches and those that purchased the program get guaranteed access to the Beta.

Signing up for Closed Beta is putting your name into a pool. We will be selecting a set number of people from that pool. The Founders program is the only way to guarantee you'll be in Closed Beta. Everyone else is kind of in a lottery. I like to think of it as the Hunger Games! :)

I would hope they offer the option to purchase all four mechs as opposed to just one. That way, those that choose or have the funds, can simply purchase what they want from the get go.

It happened that way in WoT and many bought all of the tanks, to discard what they did not want later.

Sure, it is a gamble, but it's a game.

think july is probley stress tests for the severs to judge the acceptable point between players and lag on servers ie how large a population can stably and safely each server can handle.

Psersonaly I'd think that the devs will give people ingame cash based on the founders pack bought even during closed beta so that people can use it and also piranah get to see how their shop system holds up, errors etc and then expect when due open release, possible last wipe and then C-bills etc awarded again and everyone starts from scratch on a equal footing for launch.
Even though I am EU based I have every intention of buying the elite founders pack on the 17th, because I do want access to the beta (besides wanting to realy really really play it :) is to see how well my current PC will handle mwo and also to get a feel for what if any latency there is and how it's laible to effect play.

One thing hoping is piranahis has a decent amount of support staff avail in game regardless of time of day (hey people play through out 24h period) and that their not going to do like NCsoft did during aion launch for example and only have GM support avail upto 5pm (which was aroud the time botters/gold sellers etc came out cause they knew support wasn't there during that time period) and also reasonable response times to tickets/pertitions (one game I've played, I've known support to take upto 4 weeks to respond/get to which really does win the award for longest response time ever lol)

Valid point hoping they have multiple login servers to handle the loads, was LMFAO when cataclysm expansion launched for wow and the wow login servers couldn't cope with the sheer amount of attempts at logins lol basicly could say blizzard got their players to DDOS their login server unintentionaly lol

The person above is saying no wipes after july 17 , so open beta is before that ? Shouldnt there be a wipe before the
early start for founder packs which open beta would then be starting before the 17th?

We plan to put out some news this week to clarify points on Founders Mechs and a few other bits on the founders program. Before Friday I hope to get a few news posts up to make sure everyone really understands what they would be buying.
