Like you would turn it down if you don't get ping info :P

I'll ask my friend.

Of course not even if ping mega sucks i'm going to play it , just being in cockpit is good enough :D

I'll ask my friend.

Could you ask him to run a traceroute to the gameserver, please?
Press Windows button + r or go to startmenu and press "Run..."-> type in "cmd" without the quotes -> then type in (again without the quotes) "tracert <ip of gameserver>", where you substitute <ip of gameserver> with the ip of one of the gameservers.

If done correctly he should get a list of jumps between internet nodes and the time in ms how long it takes to reach them.
That'd be a huge help in figuring out how the pings from the majority of Europe are going to be.

Thanks in advance!

PS: If he's concerned about 'showing people his IP address' ask him to block out the first two IP's on the list. That should be enough not to trace him.

Id be careful here. by asking your friend these questions you maybe putting him in an awkward position that might break his NDA contract. I wouldnt want a friend of mine asking me to break nda that would be terribly awkward.

I thought they said anyone could sign up and they wouldn't IP block, but they could only guarantee play experiences in NA.

^ This.

i understand @ blackfang, but still it seems unfair, if been looking forward to this game for so long, first it was mech 5 then it was canceled, i did not ask him anything, he just told me he was approved, he checked his status twice in 2 weeks, i check mine everyday, feels unfair, im a gamer to the core.

It would be much simpler if they just said no rather than leaving you hanging in a Pending status!

Hey people,

Aussie here, im used to 300-400 ping in WoT.

IF I get the beta invite, It will be a good test how the Aussie ping goes.
Id be more than happy if it was 250ms. But thats just a one way trip right?

Hey guys

Just in case any of you were thinking that the Closed Beta was only for people in North America I cna confirm 100% that this is not the case.

No ... I'm not in it ... %£&£^*&(*(

but a friend of mine back home in England just got in.

Soooo PGI are not being biased towards their own back yard!

:)

England are playing today, he won't even be playing the game...he will be in a pub getting smashed :(

Hey all ...

The man from the United Kingdom of GREAT Britain says ... 'PING BE FINE'

And no I don't have details ... just that the game plays fine with regard to lag etc.

So ... Another paranoid fear is laid to rest.

I know that the FAQ said that us Europeans could still get in but it's good to know that there are actually people in England getting keys. Raises my hopes somewhat, even if my chances to get a key are still ridiculously small.

This sounds like a stereotype but it's actually pretty likely. We do love our football. And pubs, and getting smashed ;)

But you knew that already.

For me the most exciting thing is that ping is not an issue for the Euro zone at least.

Think they have stated they won't be blocking any IP address, but the server is hosted in NA currently. I also believe they have stated plans for future servers in EU.

Cheer up Scorpion,
If life were totally fair, we'd all be screwed. To be fair with everyone living right now, we'd be living on less than a buck a day. To be fair with everyone who has ever lived, just about all of us would have died miserably long before our current ages.

I spent a bunch of time away from my good old USA and I still get a thrill being able to turn on the tap (in MY house) and drink the water without worrying about dysentery.

So, yeah. Pretty much the LAST thing any of us wants is for life to be fair.

Ironically enough, not getting a Beta key IS fair. 98% of us can't have a beta key yet. Fair would be 100% without.

I know I haven't done anything that PGI owes me for. They certainly don't owe me a beta key.

When SWTOR released it only had US and Europe servers, so the average ping for Aussie Players
was between 250 and 350.....A few months later Asia Pacific Servers were opened and the ping is now
around 25 - 35. So I would assume that this will also be the case, as anyone that really wants thier MMO
to be truly global will look seriously at setting up servers world wide.
