So yeah, I've spent the last two days kinda on and off making a make-shift UI 1.0 tutorial since we keep seeing new people (wait a minute... people are joining! O_O!) in the new player thread.

I want to make sure I got it covered. (Note: I'm still making these so this is making sure I got all of the topics related to the UI that new players need to know.)

Vid 1: "What you should see when you log in. A list of problems you may see when running MWO for the first time and how to fix them."
Vid 2: "How to select a trial mech and get into testing grounds to get used to the controls. How to change your controls. How to get into your first match."
Vid 3: "I don't like how my weapons are grouped. An explanation on Weapon groups."
Vid 4: "You did 25 matches? How to buy your first mech for or ."
Vid 5: "The mechlab basic layout introduction." <-- short version.
Vid 6: "Ready to change your loadout? An actual walkthrough." <-Walks you through changing a mech.
Vid 7: "I got experience! So, uh, what do I do with it? A stroll through the Pilot lab and basic explanation of the Basic unlocks."
Vid 8: "I want to look shiny! A tutorial on painting your mech."
Vid 9: "I has 3 variants of 1 chassis, now what? A tutorial on Elite, Master mech efficiencies and Modules."

Am I missing anything?

for vid #4 not sure if you want/have time/would fit neatly some advice as to what to mech might be a good start, or some way of referencing being able to ask here in the new player forum for help as to mech choices or effective loadouts. Not sure if you would need to since I imagine they would have to find this forums for the tutorials in the first place? Although not UI relevant for the most part so probably not required.

Otherwise your a god among men like always, and thanks for always going above and beyond to be a helpful guy

It generally is a good idea, yes. But it would make the video significantly longer. There are "general" mechs that help new players, and then there are good mechs for specific kinds of players. Once you start encompassing everyone's tastes it gets rather complex.

I can however, simply say "Like buying a car, it is important to find out what BattleMech would fit you best before you make your purchase. Head over to the new player help forums and let them know what you enjoy doing: What traits are important to you? What role do you see yourself playing in combat? With that bit of information from you, experienced and helpful players can help you choose which mechs can best fit what you want to do."

Looks great! Although I still vote for UI1.0 Tutorials being a waste of time :P These can be considered Beta versions... lol.

Make sure Video 2 mentions something about LRM ranges and ranges in general. Down here in Green Mech Land it is difficult to count how many people I see shooting LRMs at 1200m + range. Or shooting at locked targets that are on the other side of a hill.

Had planned on something separate to do that, but I can slip that in.

Speaking of which I won't link it here but on the AC/2 ninja penalty vid of mine it starts out with an FOV of 50 -- that was left over from recording footage of snagging camos and painting my Victor. (So I had the mechs zoomed in for the painting tutorial to better show them).
