Where to start. I'm not 100% sure if this is the right area for this thread but couldn't see anywhere obvious to put it so here we go.

Scenario
Terra Therma

My Mech
Atlas RS modified for Heavy Laser Sniper role
4 x ERLarge Group 1
Ultra AC5 Group 2
LRM 15 Artemis Group 3
Streak 2 Group 4

The Story
After a brief foray into "The mouth of Hell" Theta where I took some incoming to the left torso/arm, I decided to follow the track that leads out of Theta to the right and ultimately behind the Theta caldera. The main enemy force were not at Theta so I decided to check out Epsilon.

There had been no reports of enemy over the chatline and although my radar was starting to pick up on Epsilon, it didn't show any hostile contacts. I followed the track until it reached a small hill; climbing towards the brow of the hill I could see the Epsilon Resource Collector. Suddenly I noticed them, two Spiders close in to the body of the Collector right hand side.

Contact!
Surely they must see me? I am an Atlas; but no initial movement. By now my targeting system was showing red contacts on both Spiders; fully aware that I could only fire my group 1 lasers once without overheating I went 4x Zoom on the right-hand Spider (which had now spotted me and started to move towards me) unbelievably, the Spider headed directly towards me, straight on my line of fire. I fired the lasers then 3 rounds from the Ultra AC5 (Before it jammed) all hit home centre torso. The Spider kept coming so I fired a Streak, again a direct hit. Finally he / she decided to use their jump jets and MG array (at this point the other Spider is still sitting by the Collector watching) As the Spider landed, now at point blank range in front of me, I fell for his cunning tactic and opened up with the lasers again, he / she went down but I had misjudged the heat and went into shutdown.

The second Spider
Sat there frantically hitting override, the second Spider advanced and went for my damaged left side. (Still advancing directly in my firing line) by this time my left side was looking pretty bad, but the heat had dissipated enough for my unit to power up. I managed to offload another four Ultra AC5 rounds into Spider 2 before he got through and took me out.

At no point did ether Spider try to circle me or use any of the other tactics normally used to defeat an Assault; in short I was stunned.

What do you think?

I can't vote this because I hate the options.

All I can say was:

1) Terrible teamwork on the Spiders.

2) Since its Conquest, it is hard to tell if the cap point was fully capped or not. Capping sends a flag to EVERYONE that "SOMEONE'S HERE".

3) Approaching an Atlas that was overaggressive and overheated... the Atlas should've lost had it been played correctly.

4) Spiders (and most lights) tend to wait until the last moment to attack (especially if their weapons are short ranged, which they generally are) - waiting for the enemy to come closer before attacking... because you need all the time you can get to cap the point before attacking, allowing a possible resource victory (it is unclear the status of the resource nodes and/or the score to make that determination).

Option 4: Everyone was bad and they should feel bad.
