1) Why was this locked?

2) Why didn't it even get the courtesy of a 'locked' post to explain why it's locked?

3) Why didn't anyone respond to either of these questions when asked in a more private format?

Prolly cuz of it degenerating into posts like this:

Quote

Go away.

All of you chill the hell out and pull your little TT mech out of your ___.

Now sit down, take a breather, and relax.

and now prepare for this thread to be locked at some point as well. Cheers!

Yeah well, simply locking the thread instead of just handing out bans to the idiots would seem a lot more reasonable if they'd bothered to even mention that at all.

For all I know, a moderator simply locked it because he didn't like his opinions being wrong.

You don't just lock a thread that reached 14 pages in only like 12 hours and then ignore the questions regarding it. I might as well just repost the thread, because it's not like anyone even bothered to point out any rules violations about it.

I heard that telling people in charge what to do always works out.

Can you confirm or deny?

Maybe they didnt feel you needed any sort of response or warning?
They are the mods, they dont HAVE to say anything about it just because you want them to.
Just like they could ban you from the forums without a word.
(That was just an example, I dont think they will do that)

In most places starting a new thread about a closed threat is frowned upon.

Once threads begin to degenerate to name calling and exchanging insults, the moderators will lock it every time. Granted, they probably should have put that in a post at the end of the thread, but keep in mind that this is an international community. It's feasible someone reported the thread and the moderator who locked it was the only one online and didn't feel comfortable enough with their English to go into details with their reason for locking it.

As for the original topic...well...at this point, the mechlab is what it is. I don't think they could overhaul it this late in development without a huge delay in launch, and that simply isn't going to happen. If your concerns become an issue, though, I'm sure the devs will handle it through patches as time goes on. That's the great thing about an online game like this. Constant updates and we all play the same version.

I have posted internally to find out who locked the thread and if they could post a reason.

If you have reached someone privately, please wait for a response from them as it was the weekend and not everyone visits the forums 24/7.

Posts with the topic names like "what the hell" and comments like "simply locking the thread instead of just handing out bans to the idiots would seem a lot more reasonable" do not further your cause.
Looking over your account Frostiken I would hope you , of all people, would appreciate the tolerance and the lengths moderators and admins go to create a pleasant community. Simply banning people would indeed be much easier, however, everyone is entitled to mistakes occasionally.

I will be locking this thread for now. Please wait for a response.

Cheers.

Official response. http://mwomercs.com/...post__p__357740

I apologize that your thread was hijacked by individuals who cannot stay on topic , feel the need to be derogatory, insulting, or contribute nothing to the conversation.
Please use the report feature when necessary . Setting clear expectations and using a neutral tone when establishing your initial post in a thread can go a long way in ensuring a successful discussion.
That being said, your initial post was fantastic.

Cheers.
